Any body watching the Sabres philly game on vs?

Recommended Posts

End of the first, Tallinder gets crunched from behind into the boards, collapses - to the ice, dosen't move. Eventually is helped off the ice by two teammates......and the fans in philly boo him.

you stay classy philly

haha.

us New York/NJ fans are pretty bad but we don't even compare to Flyers/Eagles fans. In fact my best story is when my brother was about 6 we went to watch the Eagles play the Dolphins. My bro was a phins fan and he was getting cursed out by some drunk mullet head. HE WAS 6!!

I later learned that this is typical of Philly/South Jersey. Mustache and a mullet, not knowing much about sports but being the most obnoxious fans ever.

Again, I'm no innocent, I'm a Giants fan -- but -- we're no Philly fans.

For the most part...

Boston fans are annoying.

Philly fans are spineless.

NY fans are assholes.

Tampa fans are bandwagoners(which is annoying because now I have to deal with Patriots/Redsux/Giant fans).

Spineless?! Them fightin' words!

I would just call Philly fans absolutely ruthless. And honest. Players in Philly always know where they stand: Golden when they play well and work hard. In the shithouse when they dog it and play crappy. Philly fans will let them know one way or another.

I remember the first Flyers game I went to when I was like 9 years old. We were playing the Rangers and every time Ron Duguay and his mullet was on the ice, the crowd started whistling and cat calling. Fans were yelling all kinds of pejoratives his way. As a kid it was funny and kind of scary at the same time. Then I just got used to it. It was the same things at the Phillies and Eagles games. Everyone from Philly knows what I am talking about.

Pretty sure booing and jeering a blatantly injured player is pretty spineless.

I wouldn't say spineless, but absolutely low class. I am a Flyers fan and was at the game last night and even I was apalled. The Sabres had the last laugh by totally outplaying them the whole game and grabbing 2 points.

As a fellow Flyer fan, I would have to agree. I actually go to school at Niagara University and you would not believe the hatred most people have for me when I tell them I am from Philly... HAHAHA I actually had a tow truck driver come to help me when my car broke down on the highway, he saw my PA license plate and asked where I'm from. I told him just outside Philly, and I swear to you, he got back into his tow truck and drove away... the worst part was this guy was with AAA. From what I have seen socially, Buffalo fans and Philly fans are almost exactly alike. Just like Flyerman said, the fans let the athletes know where they stand. The problem is the Buffalo fans hate the flyers and they're fans, definitly since before I even thought about college, but hey it's part of the philly-ness in me to stick around and take it.

As for philly fans, and speaking of eagles, I guess if your going to be an athlete in Philadelphia... The fans expect you to be as hardworking and blue collar as the fans are. I mean we threw batteries at santa during an eagles game back in like the late 60's. hahaha, I guess santa's " ho ho ho's" weren't up to the high standards of the fans

Yes Flyer fans can be extremely low class; and I'm definitly not trying to stir the pot, but I was at the first game of the playoffs when Campbell hit Umberger, and the Sabres fans were going nuts. Now I would be the first to say it was an alright check. When I played checking leagues, I loved plastering guys, but if I hurt someone (which didn't happen often being only 5'10")I always would be the first to check and see if he was ok after his teammates came to beat me up haha. The fact that their fans were going nuts didn't show me much class.

buffalo fans have been the worst in my experience. they came down here for games during the 06 playoffs and tripled the number of arrests annually in a span of 4 games. Not to mention the trashing of our arena, and getting belligerently drunk.

Nothing new, they booed Andrew Alberts when he was being assisted off the ice earlier this season.

It's not our fault that it is easier to see the Sox in Tampa than in Boston.

Boston fans are annoying, I avoid the city or games against a Boston team so I don't have to deal with large amounts of them. Last time I went to a Lightning/Bruins game I almost killed a guy because he couldnt come up with a better response to "You're a dumbass" than "Boston RULES."

But "you're a dumbass" is a real zinger?

I'll tell you how dumb boston fans are.

My friend is from the New England area, grew up a bruins fan. His father was down from Boston for christmas last year. I took them to the caps/bruins game.

They both wore bruins jerseys. I wore my Belfast Giants jersey and Caps hat.

Caps go up 2, bruins come back to tie it 2-2.

Idiot boston fan turns round and rather than shout at me, shouts at my friends father (because 74 year olds are the best to shout at) and says "eff you, how do you like them apples"

Idiot

What else are you going to say to a guy that walks up to you wearing a bruins jersey, after they lose, and he starts screaming "woooooo" in front of you?

How about, "If you're this excited after a loss, I'd hate to see you when they win." Just off the top of my head.

I've been to playoff games in Boston and it is frightening.

It was worst in the Montreal series a few years ago. This was shortly after Koivu recovered from cancer. Must have been 2002. Montreal fans were screamed at, and any cancer joke you can think of was directed at Koivu or any Habs fan with a Koivu jersey. The Boston fans loved McLaren's flying elbow on Richard Zednik, too.

But the violence wasn't only on the ice, either. I saw Montreal fans jumped in the bathroom--and I mean jumped. This was 10 on 2, at least. It took police to break that up. By this point, I was pretty freaked out, because the person I was with had a Roy jersey on. I told her to put on her jacket and we got the hell out of there. On the way out, it was hairy. The Habs won the game and Bruins fans were literally lined up by the exits just abusing the hell out of a group of Habs fans getting into a tour bus. Those poor fans were basically made to run a gauntlet so the Boston fans could have a free swipe at them as they got into the bus.

I had never ever felt that my physical safety was in danger at a sporting event before, and I've never felt that way since. Boston fans take the cake. That is a messed up town. Truly classless fans. And it's a shame--I'm sure most hockey fans there are good people, but the good ones have let the ugly ones take over the arena.

I suppose that is worse than a bunch of people abusing a busload of American peewee kids up in Quebec province. I guess that means all Quebecois take the cake, too.
