Going to Europe

Recommended Posts

So in about a week i'm going to europe on a school trip. i was thinking about bringing about 300 euros. I was wondering what kind of stuff there is to buy there that is not available here. I want to buy some cool stuff but i dont know what to look for. You can suggest anything. Thanks :D

EDIT: We're going to Barcelona, Paris, Madrid.

Never made me hallucinate when I was there, but I sure didn't remember a thing after a few shots of it. Bring back some funny porn. Get stuff you will actually use like clothes.

Had supposedly real absinthe from europe, definitely overrated. Looked like mouthwash, tastes the same.

I'd buy regular things that cost twice as much in the States personally, seeing as how their money is worth about twice as much as USD now.

1 can or real Red Bull has the niccotine of 2 cigarettes. And if you're really lucky, you can find a bottle of Iridimum V. 1 bottle has the same amount of niccotine as 1/2 pack of cigarettes.

I live for those everytime I go back. Only energy drink that really does anything for me. With globalization, there aren't many things that you won't be able to find in North America. About the only things you won't find here are European meats and cheeses. Most cheese in Europe uses unpasteurized milk and is therefore too "dangerous" for America. Same with meat, some is cured at room temperature and may contain very trace microbes which could make you sick. If you are willing to look, you may find some local craftsmen that make localized folk art.

Yup, "real" Red Bull is the devil's blood. I think it's all sick but that stuff will kick in like nothing else legal that I can think of.

intense, ill have to check that stuff out. Does anyone know if designer clothing is any less expensive there? I was thinking about buying my girlfriend something nice but if it's just going to be the same as here than i won't bother.

When I went to Europe in the Spring of '05 everything there was equally if not more expensive compared to Canada. Don't keep stuffing your face with Gelato when you think 1.6 euro sounds cheap for a tiny cone. It really adds up when you're eating it several times a day over a two week span...

stuff like that is more or less the same if not more expensive because the GDP is higher... in general, lots of stuff is more expensive here (in europe) but barcelona is a crazy city, went there last summer for our school trip, you wont miss out.

I won't miss out on what? Any idea on what things are cheaper there?

Clothing and footware will probably more expensive than it is in the states.

E.g. Diesel or G-Star Jeans in the UK are £120'ish, so around $240. Don't know what you would pay for them over the pond?

Also, there are 2 kinds of Absinthe, the commercially sold stuff, that I think is around 40-45% proof and the real deal which I think is closer to 55% (it is the later than sends you loco).

I know of some stuff you get legally in The Netherlands, but you can't bring it home I believe... ;) What I always bring home from different countries:

- Spain: 'basic' clothing - always a little cheaper there

- Sweden: Snus, snus, snus

- Germany: beer

- France: hate France

- Italy: meat

I wear quite abit of g-star, and the jeans are around £79-£99 (in the actual g-star shops anyway)

As for Absinthe - you can get the 85% stuff in spain - and its lethal (we've got the commercial stuff over here in shot bars and thats still pretty bad).
