My Christian/Harrow Custom blade experience

Recommended Posts

Just got my custom blades today so I figured i would post how it went.

I sent them a blade i wanted copied and converted to RH. I believe they say it takes 4-6 weeks and you have to order a minimum of 6 blades at $42.00 a piece.

Here is how the price breakdown was:

$42.00 x 6 blades = $252.00

Shipping and handling = $9.15

Tax = $15.12

Grand Total = $276.27

Anyways - i believe it ended up taking a little longer than the 4-6 weeks but i didn't mind (im not in any hurry). The blades are all pretty much perfect so no complaints there. The only thing i don't understand was they didn't ship back the original blade that i sent.. I asked them to, but i don't know what happened..

Here are some pics and also the options I picked:

Size-Standard Blade

Length-Match Sample

Pattern-Match Sample

Lie-Match Sample

Depth-Match Sample

Face-Match Sample

Curve-Match Sample

Wrap-Clear Sock

Color-Black

Personalize-AK27

Let me know what you think.

They are usually kept for re-orders. Every place that has done customs for me has kept the sample.

A company will almost never ship back the blade you wanted copied. I used to get my blades made by Sherwood and although they were as expensive it looks like Christian did a great job on the. Let me know how they hold up for you.

If you can't live without the curve, that is fine but I think the price is totally out of line for what you got.

+1...when I was reading 42 per blade, I was hoping it wasn't wood. But if I found a curve I really, really liked...I could see myself spending it. So far though, haven't found one like that. I'd try to find composite customization though...

Composite would be something like $110 per blade plus shipping if the numbers I was given in the past are still close.

i'd love it if someone did custom composite blades too - it just seems like none of the companies out there have any interest in it - that's why i settled for getting woodies

one can always hope!

What was sherwood for the custom axions? The original sandwich construction ones were lively and quite durable (the tenon started going and the paddle is stiff as hell and perfect on the spezza I beat the crap out of).

For European members I could recommend a Czech manufacturer called Swerd. They did a custom order for me for 23 euros/blade. They held up very well.

Yes unfortunately their page is only in Czech and the button for the English language is only a fake. But if you have a question I will try to translate.

The blades look nice. I don't mean to be a downer, but to me the pics kind of look like the sample blades had a lot more toe to them than the finished customs. Is that really what happened or is it just optics because they went from left to right?

Yeah at first I thought you got some left toe hooks and I was going to put dibs on one if you didn't like them! Cool curve, how does it play compared to your regular mids and heels?
