Malkin: "Ovechkin will be MVP this year"

Recommended Posts

English has to be one of the hardest languages to master. We have so many influences its not funny.

Attic Greek has it whipped. I am in a world of hurt. :(

Ever tried to learn Chinese? Characters and Pin Yin make it two in the form of one! ;-)

Now you're just being evil. lol

I think Malkin is being a bit modest. In saying that, I think Ovie would get the nod if the Caps manage to crawl in the playoffs.

However MVP is the player that makes greatest impact on the team and when Sid the Kid went down, Malkin answered the call. Both are deserving IMO.

I think it's a toss up between these 2 dependent on whether the Caps make the playoffs

But shouldn't an MVP be an MVP all season long? not just when your all-star goes down? And Conklin was a big reason why Pitts was saved when Syd went down.

malkin deserves it just as much as ovechkin - but the bottom line is going to be: 65 goals - how do you argue with that? it's been such a long time since someone has scored that many goals - i just don't see people overlooking that.

Why do you say this? Granted, Malkin is a great player but I dont think it's even debatable that this year Ovie is clearly the MVP (obviously Malkin agrees with this stand)

It's pretty close I think. Both guys are a huge reason why their teams are in the top 8 in the East. Ovechkin is pretty much the only reason the Caps are even in playoff contention, unless some Caps fans can give some other reasons. I know Boudreau has turned the team around a lot giving him a good shot at the Adams award. Malkin is a huge reason why the Pens are the front runners in the conference. Crosby's shoes were huge ones to fill and Malkin stepped up big time, more then anyone else. Sure Conklin was a big factor as well, but without Malkin who knows where the Pens would be now. I think that the MVP should be chosen with the teams overall sucess in mind, and if the Caps fall short of the playoffs then what have they succeded? Caps make the playoffs = Ovechkin MVP. Caps don't make the playoffs = Malkin MVP. Just my opinion, hate it if you choose.

i say that because they are 1 & 2 in scoring in the league and they have both played a large part in their teams success. you could argue that conklin helped but you could also say that about cristobal huet. anyway - im not being a homer and saying malkin will win - im being realistic and saying ovechkin will be the mvp because he was just as valuable and also scored a ton of goals (which helps)..

I think Malkin does deserve some recognition aswell, he was playing second fiddle to Crosby last season and until Sid got injured. Not that there isn't alot of talent on that team but he carried them IMO and showed his worth and thats what an MVP candidate should do, step up.

Although not to take anything away from Ovechkin he's surpassed his points, goals(PP+GW), +/-, and his lowest PiMs total of his career and with some help (Green, Fedorov, Backstrom, Nylander, Semin and Co.) brought the caps into a *possible* playoff spot after their awful start to the season.

German, then English I would say are hardest to master as a 2nd language.

Although both are easier when submersed in the culture.

I learned more German living in Oldenburg for a few months than I did in 6 years of secondary school

What exactly do you think is so hard about German?

The grammar, the sex of words, are different to english. English might be a germanic language, but in german, the grammar is completely different. You have to learn the case and plural of every noun, and verb, and it's just very confusing.

I speak english and Irish fluently. I studied german for 6 years in school, but it was way beyond anything I could pick up in the class.

Like I said, when I was there, it was a lot easier to pick up, but I probably picked up a lot of bad habits/slang too, that would fail me in most exams

That is the case for many, many foreign languages though. Gender is par for the course in most European languages.

Isn't Irish just English with a different accent? I think you meant to say Gaelic.

Actually dipshit, Gaelic or, ag caint as gaelige, is the Irish word for Irish, or speaking in Irish.

Since I'm clearly conversing on the boards in English, the word Irish is correct.

And no, it's not English with a different accent, tool

Congratulations, you are the first and only person who has ever referred to Gaelic as speaking in Irish. But what would I know, being from the Boston area I wouldn't know any Irish folks.

I was born and raised in Ireland. I lived there until 7 years ago. In the north west. County Donegal. I spend my summers in Ranafast, which is a gaeltact area. Irish is the first spoken language there, not english. You go to school and learn in the irish language.

I speak it fluently, I was born and raised Irish. I know what I am talking about

Congratulations, you are from boston, you must know so much more about where I was born and raised than I do.

You mean Gaelic.

Very good, nothing else to go with.

And no, I mean Irish, as previously explained, I'm speaking english now (something apparently you have yet to come to full grasps with) so Irish is not only appropriate, but correct.

Gaelic as an adjective means "pertaining to the Gaels", including language and culture.

As a noun, it may refer to the group of languages spoken by the Gaels, or to any one of the individual languages, though in Ireland, "Irish" is used more frequently to refer to the Irish language.

Perhaps it's because your plastic paddy friends know not of what they speak?

I don't have the deepest knowledge of stats but I think Ovy's got the MVP hands down. Malkin had an amazing season, especially the way he stepped up in Crosby's absence, but Ovy has been absolutely LIGHTS OUT.
