The centerpiece of the site will be “The Hockey Show,” a daily live broadcast from the NHL’s studio in New York. It will be on five times a week during the season and sporadically in the offseason.

Each day’s telecast will include news, highlights and features.

In conjunction with all 30 NHL teams, another channel called “LiveWire” will feature sights and sounds from around the league—such as morning skates, news conferences and behind-the-scenes material that would otherwise be unseen.

Will the new site load faster than the POS they use now?

I'm working on finding out whether its a tweak of what exists or a total redesign. kind of surprised this is the first I've heard of it, usually i know a bit earlier than a few days before. Kind of makes me think its more of a tweak, especially since this site was seeing a few of the long term goals set during the lockout come to fruition.

I know some of the folks up there, more in the editorial part than anything, but constructive criticism is generally welcomed (and sometimes I explicitly get asked to pass along opinions of others besides myself).

At anyrate, if you've got any constructive criticism (or general complaints like slowness, hard to find things....) heres a chance... I'll gladly pass it along.

oh joy. yet another thing I won't be able to see thanks to Websense at work.

Ha....we have websense at my workplace too. I'm in IT so it comes in handy for us when we need to bust staff for browsing porn during work hours ;)

Yeah, I work in the IT Dept of an elementary school district and sometimes I wonder whether we have it in place for the kids or the teachers...

This was purchased from Charles Wang, Isles owner. He launched a 24/7 webtv channel for the isles a couple of seasons ago, using the livewire tech they developed. He has since sold it to the NHL, NBA and I think MLB.

It's in one of the recent hockey news that arrived

Companies shouldn't need that kind of software to prevent it...anyone who is surfing porn on a company machine (unless, of course, you work for Vivid Video) deserves to be caught & fired for it.

Finding "stars" that most people actually know for projects like this would be a big start.

Now the Canucks aren't in it. So what I decided is that I'm going to write a kind of mythical blog about what the Canucks and Kings would be doing had they still been in," he said. "In my version, for the first time in NHL history, the Canucks and the Kings will be the first two Western Conference teams to actually meet in the Stanley Cup finals."

That's not blogging. In fact, it's pretty insulting that he doesn't care about the playoffs since his teams aren't playing.

I am interested in reading the Kevin Smith blog, too bad he's a Devils fan.

yeah, they did have Cuthbert do one a few years ago. The biggest problem is getting them to do it consistently. It tapers off.

Personally, I'd die from laughing if they filmed a segment with Snoop every few days as the ducks go through the playoffs.

They called it "easier to navigate" when they launched it. I think it is a little confusing too...but as you say...mostly because of familiarity with the old layout.
