CCM U+ SKATES (any reviews/ feedback) ?

Recommended Posts

I'm in Regina, Canada. And they let you bake them for free here. Thats crazzy that you guys have to pay for that.

Suprised most rinks/teams don't invest in one so that their players can use it. We have ours locked up with other various gear, but it's free to use it if you ask.

if teams did that, players would use it too many times and melt the skates, or would try to heat the skates up before they went on the ice, and we know thats not a good idea however tempting it may be

In most LHS, if you buy the skate in there they bake them for free. If you buy them somewhere else they charge.

Heat molding is not just baking, CCM recommends the FIT machine for the U skates.

Right...thats the machine you put your skates in while wearing them, and it inflates a bladder to envelop your foot and put pressure on the outside to mold the boot, right?

LOL. My LHS baked my first s15's and put me in that machine.....for composite skates!

ummm......OK/

Matter of fact, I baked my S15s on them too now that I think about it. No, it still works, the boots give.

I guess I just didnt notice a difference. On the new customs I got recently, I didnt bake or F-I-T them at all. I was paranoid it would affect the glue and/or overall durability of the skate (like with my first pair). They are breaking in beautifully and fit great (except for the depth, but I am having no issues with that).

Never said it was a problem....just not a perfect fit.

I've found the FIT machine works well on all skates, composite, leather, moldable, non-moldable, whatever. It's especially good at forming the sidewall where the eyelets are and curling it in nice so the laces can be snugged tight when the skate is tied. Regardless of model, this area is not Carbon/hard composite and will mold very nice. I jusrt did a set of Kors tonite and they molded great. Much better then doing by hand.

...because it was so expensive to bring in and all of the responsibility belonged to the dealer. Last year some woman came in and said that she had one as she picked up a space at another rink and there was one in there. It didn't have a wire, but if we were willing to pick it up we could have it for free. Picked it up and intended to put it at Garrett's store, but then mine went out so I took it back. :)

I tried on the U+ the other day at my lbs and i really like the skate alot, but it seemed like the area around the arch was really tight on my foot and created some pain, has anybody else had this problem? would baking the skates help or am i just not a right fit for them?

Yeah my arches kill me after I skate on them. I am assuming that they just need to be broken in, but if i skate on the 5 more times and they aren't feeling the slightest bit better I'm gonna get them rebaked
