Sending Cash in the Mail

Recommended Posts

Isn't sending cash money in the mail against the law?

I got a ticket in Missouri, and I live in Illinois. But its just a ticket that I can pay off, SO I'm keeping it on the down low with my parents. AKA Im not telling my parents, Im just going to send the money to Missouri.

My question is though..since I dont have a check book how could I send them their money? Since Im sending money to a municipal court in MO, would they get on me for sending them cash in a letter?

It's not against the law (that I am aware), but there is no way to protect yourself if the mail is lost.

Is there a way to pay the ticket online? My last parking ticket could be paid online...

Ill have to look into that. However, again, there would be no way to go about that without using my parents credit card.

I work for my own money but I dont have a checkbook or a credit card.

But you'll have to have a credit or debit card...

You can send money through the mail I'm pretty sure or drive there and hand them the money I think

You can always get a money order, thats probably a better idea then sending cash.

this is true, and is probably your best bet

Go to the bank....They will make a check, or as already mentioned a money order for you for a small charge....In Canada, that is not illegal. Weird. How bad was the charge? If you don't mind me asking of course?

If sending cash is illegal how many grandmothers get sentenced after a grandkid's birthday?

Just send a MO as it's going to be the cheapest way. The debit/cash cards from stores or banks can cost around $5 just to activate and I think a MO from the post office is around $1.

Give the cash to a pal who has a credit card. Mailing money is stupid, and most municipal offices I've dealt with won't take cash (so they don't keep a cash drawer/box that can get stolen or pilfered by employees).
