booyaagrandma 4 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 I'm using Sherwood trad elbows for a few years and its time for some new pads. The Sherwoods are great pads but I've switched to gloves with a longer cuff and find the Sherwoods interfere with the gloves in terms of ease of movement.I'm looking for recommendations for pads with a less obtrusive forearm protection that won't interfere with my gloves.I don't need hard cap or huge pads I only play pickup with friends these days ,no league play.I was looking at the Bauer classics, are these any good ? Thanks.
Cove 39 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 do you really need elbow pads for pick up? I only wear shins, a bucket, and gloves.
duch 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 It's a good idea to wear some sort of elbow protection. Nothing worse than falling and landing on your elbow. It can hurt for weeks afterwards and you can do some major damage if you hit it on the ice or boards hard enough. I'd look for some low end pads in a Canadian Tire or even a Wal-mart type store, yes I said Wal-Mart . Even a pair of elbows the skateboarders use is better than nothing. Protect your joints, they are very important.
jimmy 194 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 Find a elbow the goes up to your glove with as little gap as possible, yet you can still move the glove without binding. Then make sure it has straps you like, fit and function. Don't worry about feel as all elbows and equipment won't feel perfect at first, but they will break in and feel good in no time. From someone who has had elbow injury, they are painful like no other. A simple pad can make a huge difference in those rare beer league collisions with others, boards, and the ice. No need to spend big money.
theWB 2 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 Check out the bauer classics or easton stealth S1.
Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 Bauer Supreme 10's would fit your requirements I believe. I currently use and love them....might want to check them out also.
MLSman 22 Report post Posted July 13, 2008 For your requirements, the Classic would work. Just about any short forearm pad would work. I agree with most here that you need to protect the elbows...nothing worse than getting tripped or falling and landing on the elbow. Most of the time I never wear shoulder pads...but elbows are a must.

Spreedizzle 1 Report post Posted July 15, 2008 I've ordered the Bauer Supreme Classics,we'll see how they work out. Thanks for all the recommendations lads.Great pad. Virtually identical to my Bauer Supreme 10's. If it is the type that you are looking for, you won't be dissapointed. Very rare to find a "lower end" elbow with a 3 strap closure.
