He's just sayiing that he personally would like to close that, or any other, game...and I don't have a problem with that at all, that's what he's supposed to want to do.

Classy of him to defer to Rivera I think, also makes things less awkward for Francona, you wouldn't want to piss off your own player by putting someone else in ahead of him. I think Paps understands this is Yankee Stadium, and at this point in Mo's career (combined with his ridiculous performance this season), he should certainly be out there closing the game.

This is one of the problems I have with letting the ASG decide home field in the World Series; there are other factors that come into play here rather than just putting the best team on the field, and furthermore most teams have no interest at all in which league has home field advantage so they aren't going to risk their players to go for it.

I don't have a problem with the original interview, he's saying if it were up to him, he'd close the game, but it's not, so what he thinks doesn't matter.

Papelbon is a nut anyways.

The home run derby is boring. A guy tagging 28 in a single round is impressive but it still isn't exciting to watch.

I know this is a Made for TV event...but does it really translate well to a TV audience? Maybe it's the non-traditional camera angles they use on some of the hits, but we kept going..."That's gone..." and it would land 10' short of the wall...or we'd pull a Bob Euker..."Too high" thinking he had skied a pop up, and it carried 15 rows deep.

I think to be in the ballpark during something like that would be a much better experience than watching it on TV.

Movie quote correction: It wasn't Euker who said "Too high." That was one of the trio of guys who were sitting in the bleachers.

"Too high."

"Too high? What do you mean 'Too high'? Too hard, maybe, but not too high."

I find it to be exciting now but in 5 years or so there are going to be guys up at the plate for an hour and thats when it will get very boring.

I think they should try to make the derby a little bit different where every team has one representative and they have 5 outs to hit as many home runs as possible so maybe that will make it a bit more exciting. and then for the players, team mates and fans bragging rites until next season.

How many of you guys are going to watch the all star game tonight? (I know some people thik baseball is like watching paint dry or watching the grass grow)

Ever see when the Admirals had Bob Uecker jerseys?

You mean these?

YIKES! I'd hate to be the PxP guy trying to read those names/numbers from the press box. The AHL seems to do a LOT of theme jerseys...but Mil. does more than most.

No chatter about the game? I'm surprised. 0-0 after, what, 4....I thought it was going to be a snoozer...turned into a hell of a game.

The AL must be paying Dan Uggla for making all of those errors!!!

In a real game during the season he would of been picking the splinters out of his butt

anyone else think that he was going to be thrown out to send the game to the 16th.... figure that would have fit in with how the extra innings had gone
