new skates question

Recommended Posts

so its been a year since ive payed 800 bucks for one 90's and im finally looking to purchase new skates. I have a really narrow foot thats why i got the one 90's in the first place so my question is how is the fit for the one 95's compared to the one 90's?

I'm in the same boat. I love my one90's, but they are starting to go on me. I'm not happy with the way the One95's fit. Not even the C width fits well. There's nothing else out there I like that much either. I think I will go for custom One95's. Does anyone know if depth can be customized on One95's. I want to get a One95 made shallower. Is this possible?

The depth can be modified on a custom skate...your challenge would be to find the exact depth. Have your foot measured for a custom fit.

If you have a narrow foot you should give Grafs or Missions a try. Probably a better fit for you. If your hell bent on staying with Nike/Bauer though you should be able to find some One/90s on one of the on line internet dealers like Hockey Giant, Hockey Monkey , Great Skate or Epuck. I know at least two of these sites have a good selection of One/90 sizes, and you already know the size and width you use, so it should be a cake walk ordering a new pair.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing im looking at graf g3's but I would need to by my skates bought at my LHS not off the internet cause they have to move the blade do all the contouring and stuff plus I get a huge discount off everything I get there.

If you liked the one90's and they fit well. . . couldn't you buy the new one75s, aren't they basically identical skates?

No

And what are the major differences in fit? I thought this was talked about greatly in the one95/one75 thread about how the one75 fits the same as the previous one90.

Just got back from the rink and tried on a demo pair of one95s. Well the one skate they had on display while mine were being sharpened. If you fit comfortably in one90s this is probably not the skate for you. I have Fred Flintstone feet, short, fat and deep. I have not had a pair of skates that haven't hurt my feet since I was 12. While the one95 was a half to full size too long, the width and depth were almost perfect. The side of my feet just touching the edge of the skate and looked like it would pass the pencil test with flying colors.

By comparison a pair of 1st run Kor shift 1s with the Tuuk blade my foot was literally bulging out of the top. I couldn't even get the tongue to close without a good chunk of sock showing. A pair of Shift 1s that were a half size too small that had the Pitch 3 holder actually probably would've worked though.

Where does it say it "fits the same?" They're similar but not the same boot in my opinion..Maybe JR can shed some light on this..

A word of advice on my summer experiment:

If it ain't broke...don't fix it.

Stick with what works for you, especially if the skate you want is readily available. In your case, I would go with a custom pair of One90s. If there is anything you want to change...like the tendon guard or the tongue or anything else, you can do whatever you want.
