Kor Gear Carbon

Such a Kor whore you are...I meant as in long, short, wide or narrow? Or does it even matter? I'm a size 11 shoe..sometimes 11.5 or even 10.5..Depending on the shoe..I'm in size 9D Bauer Supremes, but wondering if I could go down to even 8.5. Ever since I started playing again...the itch to get the best performance advantage skating-wise has gotten worse and worse..Anyways..Those skates are all black..imagine those with black laces..

I have NOTHING to do with KOR.

Yes..I know..you resigned from there awhile back..I think I found out the reason why in the "I want to be a rep" thread..I'd pry buy them since they're only $199 for sh#ts and giggles..I'm sure they'll surprise me with their fit though.. I've never skated on a Pitch holder..

I've thought about putting Pitch holders on my Graf 502s..Just wish I could put better steel on my One55s..Nice skates otherwise..even nicer now that I put the custom Graf (Sidas) heat moldable insoles in them..I think I just tinker around with my skates too much..I've had them profiled and so on already..I'm now at a 7/8th hollow.

epstud, I don't feel as if you were calling me out, however, it isn't anyone's business why we have gone our separate ways. On top of that, it shouldn't matter whether it is myself of any other rep on this BB. I don't think that a little privacy is much to ask.

With regards to your comment "I think I found out the reason why in the "I want to be a rep" thread", to be quite honest, I was making a generalized statement as that situation seems to be the norm in this business. I've been in this business as a shop employee, manager and owner, as well as a sales rep on both the retail and pro sides for 17 years and NOTHING has changed with this issue. It might not happen with the larger companies, however, it does with the "smaller" companies. Keep in mind that these smaller companies are really "large" in their own way in that they sometimes provide a large chunk of income for reps. It all depends on how you look at it.

Anyhow, I got your PM and understand why you're asking the questions. I will do my best to answer them, but, KOR does have a representative on this BB. Eduardo is the man running the production floor on the skates (amongst other items) and is more than qualified to answer your questions. He doesn't have a lot of time to be on here (I'm sure), but, he tries his best.

I was just making a comment, I didnt need to know or mean to pry..I wasnt asking for an answer. I'm pretty sure the business is a dog eat dog world for smaller companies out there..I'm just making convo about the skates..piqued my interest..The Gear logo on them looks like the same logo you'd see on the lower end practice jerseys etc I've seen in the past..I could be wrong though

It was the logo that was chosen, for better or for worse.

I'd say it is certainly a high end product for a brand like that. Despite how people may feel about the looks, the performance of the skate is outstanding (i.e. "Don't judge a book by its cover").

When the product is sold online or only in a couple stores, looks is all most customers really have to go on.

ON that note, does anyone know how this skate compares to the Shift 1? It appears to share the same carbon sole design and seems similar in overall shape and depth. Judging from a crappy internet picture, I'd say the Gear skate is a rebranded, recolored Shift 1. Can anyone confirm?

I like my Shift 1's and I'd be happy to see them available after the current stock of older models are bought up. Black vs Silver, Gear vs Kor - who cares? Just give me a skate that fits.

Maybe the Gear's would have some of the bugs of the Shift 1's ironed out too.

It does look to have the same shape as the Shift 1's, however; if you look closely at the picture it also looks like the holders mounted using rivets rather than the screw system so I assume they would also have removable footbeds unlike the built in ones like the Shift 1's. That also probably means that the footbeds aren't heat moldable and you could possibly use these to convert to roller. Of course I don't know for sure...that's just a guess based on the picture.

Instant messaged HG and this is the answer

you answer all of your questions

You are now chatting with 'hector'

hector: Hello, how may I help you today?

you: I'm looking at the KOR Gear Carbon Senior Ice Hockey Skates and was wondering if it has the toe glove like the other Kor skates do.

hector: One moment please while I check that for you.

you: ok

hector: I went ahead and ran out to the warehouse and pulled out a pair of the Carbon Skates, and yes they do have the toe glove

you: thanks

So, I feel like an idiot for not finding this in the search...

But anyway, other than the way the holder is mounted, is this the same skate as the Shift1? Because I'm in the market for some new kicks after my Shift1's cracked and split where the outsole would be on a normal skate.

Yeah I got that email, that's why I'm really considering them. Although, I was asking more about the materials used and whatnot rather than the fit. I figured the fit would be the same.

Defiant Sport can answer that for you. I was wondering the same thing. The material looks kinda cheap.

Actually BreakingParadigms can answer this for you. He is a KOR representative.

Fitting similar to Shift2's, thermoformability is downgraded from a design standpoint, but you can still bake them to a good fit. Not as impact resistant as the 2's, upper materials are different and no superfeet insoles.

I ask again, whats the fit on these? I wear a size 7 in ccm. 7.5 in bauer vapors, 7.5 in eastons, 7 1/4's in one95s . Thanks.

They're generally 1 size up from CCMs and the One95s so I'd guess you're an 8.
