shoots like a vapor xxxx maybe somthing with the taper and weight I really don't know, but the blade is very forgiving and has excellent feel, not overly crazy about the curve though.

I got the Eastview model and the curve on this one is stamped Forsberg like the rest however mine seems way more open faced...It is a nice stick for the $$ but I dont prefer the grip on the blade itself....The stick feels like it will be a tank though...

agreed, feels like a tank, my pics aren't very square so the toe is more open on mine as well. For the money I agree its a great deal as soon as they go back to 79 I will grab another, thanks for the reply

no not a naslund, I really don't have retail curve in mind to describe it, lie is around 6 not 5 very long blade more of a slightly open mid with a round toe, I have used this stick again and I am really liking it, I don't have the weight but I would guess close to 430 uncut, very similiar to a xxxx like I said before but better feel for me at least. at 60 its a incredible deal why do they change the prices so often I wonder?

Not to sound paranoid  but I wonder if this site plays a small part in the fluctuations. Industry types do watch this site after all...

I dont really think this site plays any part in the price issue...I think they drop prices on older stock things that they need to get rid of...They drop the price sell a few pieces and then back up sell a few more...Basically they drop the price on things that arent moving like they would like to get rid of some stock...

They'd probably score a few extra sales once someone posts up a cheap/good deal. Not much more then that. Unless the mods have some hard figures, although I can imagine they have better things to do. ;)

Anyone ever figure out the curves on these? I rather liked the Primeau toe curve version (although, I thought the Diamondback blades were a little soft for slappers).

Anyone own the Diamondback and Payback and able to comment on the two in comparison?

It would be nice to get a cut of all the sales from things that are linked. ;)

ummm, forsberg-ish. I'll put up some pics later showing the curve. right now, time to sleep. 14 hour shift at a hospital isnt much fun.

These sticks have a Morrow curve on them, which could be somewhat close to a more open faced Forsberg...

are these worth the money to stock up with then? im looking at twigs for the season and cant make up my mind with anything. i might just have to bite the bullet and pick up a couple of these to try out since everyone seems to be having decent feedback.

I just ordered 3 from a guy in Colorado who is selling them on ebay. he is selling large stocks of Vipers and Diamondbacks. I ordered 3 with 110 flex. I will have them next week and let you all know what I think as soon as I get to play with them.

He has 5 blades and 4 stiffnesses in the viper and he ha 4 blades and 3 stiffnesses in the Diamondback.

Ovechkin, Forsberg, Lidstrom are among them.

I am not sure if I ordered the Vipers or the Diamondback's now but I'll include that info later.

He's selling them for $60 and $70 respectively, but it includes shipping so that's basically for $50 and $60 and if you will buy multiple sticks he will consider discounts to move them.

From what everyone is saying I'll be happy. I'd like to have a stick I can play wing/center with on the bench during games as I am the "swing man" when we have injuries. (we play with 3 lines and 3 pairs, but it's easier to play with 5 D than 2 and 2/3 lines) I would also, however, like to keep my wood Montreals and Franklins for D-work. I never lose a stick to some a-hole forward who slashes it in front of the net or miss a clearing pass because of a snapped twig.

So this will be my first 1-piece stick and I will not only test it out, but I have a teammate who has a relative with the st. louis blues and he gets to try all the missions, sickicks, and eastons he wants so we'll get some good feedback, eh?

Ok, ciao for now.

Peace from PA.

Ok, got them, 3 110 flex, primeau blade (2) 25 pattern (1, appears to be same) diamondbacks.

My first game will be tomorrow night... however, it looks like i am playing defense, so I will probably not use it. I might make it to lunch hockey friday or sunday morning hockey this weekend at giant center.

I have some pics, but I don't know how to attach them apparently. So I will do that as soon as I figure it out.

25 is Keith's pattern. The 25 is the original pattern name, it was later changed to his name.

Ok, end of first 20 game season. After about five or six weeks of open hockey and pick up games and practices, I switched from my Montreal wood stick to the Diamondback. I have played about 14 games, 3 practices, 10 pick up games, and a few sessions of lunch open hockey with the first stick. It has one deep cut at the inside of where the heel meets the shaft, that happened about six weeks ago from either a slash or someone's skate, not sure which, though LOOKS like a skate mark). Otherwise it is great.

The grip is great. I drop this stick half as often as the wood stick.

Even though it is a 110, I still get some serious zip on my point shots, even wrist shots. More than with a more whippy wood stick.

I am liking the 25/Primeau pattern, though I put the puck over the glass more often than I like when I am trying to clear the zone because the blade is very open and I get that extra zip... which translates my center ice over your head lob into a pop fly in the penalty box about 1 out of 5 times. Good thing I'm not in the pros, my teammates would be pissed at all my delays.

Alright, on to stickhandling, now, mind you this is my first composite or non-wood stick, but in the one game I played forward this season, it helped me move my hands twice as fast, and again the grip made sure I didn't slip up when making moves I just don't even try from the point and my only goal as a defensemen came on a wrister from the blueline. It was right on target and the puck moved like a slider or a split finger fastball... low and shooters left on the break from a right-handed stick. I find that I generally get two results depending on what I do. Either I get a curving slide to the bottom left, or it rises above the crossbar when I am out past the circles depending on whether or not I roll my wrists. On a straight shot, no roll, the stick is dead on.. and if i was a better hockey player it would shoot straight. When I snap and roll the wrists it gives the puck a lot of english down and left (right handed).

So, first playoff game is tomorrow, I'll try to remember to stop in and let you know if it survives playoffs. (I try to emulate Kronwall/Stuart of the wings during playoff time... so the question remains, can the stick survive me?)
