RBk 8K Gel Padding

Recommended Posts

I searched and could not find a suitable answer, so I ask this question to the gurus out there: The gel padding on my 8k is starting to peel off and slide around. The helmet is only a year and a half old, so I would like to just re-glue it? Is this safe or should I replace the helmet? Thanks in advance.

I have the same thing happening to my 8k helmet too. Mine is just over 1 year old. I called Reebok about it and

they said that if the helmet was under a year old and I had my receipt, they would give me a new helmet. Mine is over a year so they won't cover it and the guy there said that I should not try to reglue it as there is no glue that he knew of that would hold it securely and not smell. I would love to find a fix for this. Please let me know if you find out any info on it.

Superglue, worked on my hybrid Nike/Bauer bucket. Been going strong for 7 years now. No smell aside from the Kopf stench that was in there two weeks after I bought it.

same problem. i'll wait until i have a long break and then i'll use my loctite superglue too. pretty shitty that a high end helmet would have their pads shift around like that.

I wouldn't use Superglue.

Sorry I have to be that guy... but why not? Does it just not work well? I grabbed some superglue at the store already.

Impeccable timing guys, this same exact issue is happening with the memory foam in my 1052 Tacks helmet right now.

Because it will harden the EPP to the point that it won't compress. I've posted the solution time and time again. Liquid Nails for Small Projects won't get into the pores of the EPP.

I had to re-glue my Intake with some contact cement glue. The gel pads were sliding around. When I took the pads out there was a thin layer of plastic sticky glue(??) off the gel pad stuck to the EPP. I had to remove that before gluing. However, when I set the gel pads most of them hardened because I cheated and used the heat gun on a light setting to dry the glue. I'll be replacing the Intake with something else once I can decide on the next helmet. I was too lazy to go looking for Liquid Nails!

This is why I joined and read MSH. Thanks JR. Pretty interesting.
