New Cascade Helmet?

Recommended Posts

The Mission helmet does look good. Never heard too many complaints about it like the Cascade.

Anyone who watched the Rangers game the other night may have seen Mark Messier endorsing these helmets. I think they bought 3000 of them for youth hockey players and all the Jr. Rangers pee Wees are wearing them. According to Mark, A lot of research was done on preventing concussions and the Cascade came out on top. They were really pushing the research.

if he sold the ones he had with him, i thought they looked great.

I take a lot of shit for wearing a Bauer 8000, but Jesus Tapdancing Christ- I would never put that frankenstein bucket on my head.

Mark will whore himself out for anything.

Mark Messier is pimping the helmet on the fan 590 from Toronto right now. He is on Hockey Central with Daren & Nick K.

Talking about how he is not in it for the money...lol!

Well if he does or not just a note for the Canadiens there JR.

No Mask but a Cascade mask has been tested on that helmet. So in other words a Cascade cage is the only one CSA approved to go on that helmet.

So if you want to be safe warranty and injury wise you have no choice but to go with there cage!

...I should say, optimal fit. DOes the cage still have that break and then it turns in?

Not sure we dont handle the product. I just am able to get all info regarding CSA standards much easier now!

He wore it yesterday at the Legends game. It's a bit bulky looking and I didn't like the particular color pallete -- white with black starting at the nape of the neck and sweeping up to the top of the back.

It certainly caught a lot of eyes, and he showed it to us in the locker room. What was kind of interesting is underneath the layer that touches the head it had baffles, sort of like Farrell's equipment. I asked him how he felt the ventilation was, since it seemed to have so much padding it could become hot, but he said it wasn't any worse than other helmets he's worn. It seemed like he had a vested interest, but I didn't get the opportunity to ask him.

A similar thing happened with Borje Salming and the NXT stick, which I thought they had discontinued because I no longer saw it on their website. However, quite a few people noticed the bow in the stick and remarked that they would like to try it.

I agree that the old one is ugly... Not nearly as well-ventilated as the others I have worn. The fit is ok. I feel like I have to wear one of these (or something like it)... about 1/2 a concussion from being done for good, even beer league. I joke with my buddies about feeling like Rick Moranis' character from Spaceballs (Darth Helmet?) with this thing on... but if it can help keep me in the game, it's worth looking like a dork.

The newer one does look a little more palitable than the first version. My guess is if they make it look a little more similar to some ot the major brands they'll start selling a few more. From the information I've received they are a very comfortable helmet but still a bit on the heavy side.

Yep. You really need to see it in person as those graphics don't do it justice... Especially on a dude's head. It fails the mirror test.
