NHL Gear Whores

Recommended Posts

No to all.
Do NHL players know all the model numbers of the new gear and things like that? Like would an NHL'er say "I can't wait to try the One95 stick" or "I'm going to try the X60 skates" or do they just find out about them when the reps bring them? Do they read up on what's coming out and get excited like we do?

So they are completely oblivious to what new gear is coming out? They just kinda try it out when they have it shown to them by the rep?

I'm sure there are varying degrees; some guys will be pretty on top of the new stuff, some won't have a clue.

i think garth snow was more concerned about "what he could get away with" i think he was one of the reasons they started talking about having size restricitons on goalies equipment..

i remember the announcers talking about how huge the shoulder pads on his chest protector were.

Don't forgot the flaps at the top of his chest protector. That was really when it got ridiculous.

i'm sure, as an NHLer, if you're constantly seeing and trying the newest/lightest/flashiest from all reps and team mates it gets kinda old pretty quick. whereas most here only just see 95% of what's out there let alone try.

Those were roofing shingles... his father (or maybe his brother) stapled them on...

Yes.
