Pant sizing

Recommended Posts

I currently fit in a medium pant but I was thinking about getting a large in my next pant and just use suspenders. I am only doing this because I don't want to drop another $150 in a few years. Does anyone currently wear a size larger then they technically fit? Any downside to doing this?

I think this would depend on your own personal preference. I would not do it. If you are in a checking leauge they might shift on you because they are big and do not fit close to your body. I am also a tackla guy, tacklas fit snug. I would maybe instead get the $100 pair that fits just right and when you grow out either pitch or sell them then get your $150 dollar pair. my 2 cents.

Yeah, nothing like trying to sprint in far-too-big pants. Reminds me of driving the ol' Crown Victoria.

I wouldn't say I'd be 'swimming' in a large but medium is definitely my size. The only reason I would do something like that is to get a longer inseam that I need. Guess the easiest route is to spend a whooping $200 on some +2's in a Warrior or Tackla...

As long as a larger size doesn't hamper your movement and sits properly to protect your kidney, tailbone and thigh areas the pant is not too big. When you begin to fumble or hesitate due to the pant legs catching in your shin pads or the waist area flopping around under your sweater then you've gone way too big. I know a lot of guys that wear a size above what the waist sizes recommended for them and have not had any problems whatsoever. I also know guys who like a tighter fit and go down one size. It doesn't matter so long as it doesn't restrict your movement or positon your padding where it's not giving the benefit of protecting the vital areas it's supposed to.
