Cheaper Equipment Stink More

Recommended Posts

If you ever look at different pieces of equipment in the same series.. Take CCM for Example

V10, V08, V06, V04 equipment.. if you notice the specs...

V04 has no liner

V06 liner with anti-microbial treatment

V08 VECTOR dry anti microbial liner

V10 sublimated liner with VECTOR dry anti-microbial treatment

I'm sure other companies are the same way

but wouldn't this mean that the cheaper equipment will get stinky faster, even with proper care?

It depends on the equipment. My cheap Bauer gloves have an anti-microbial treatment which makes them hardly smell at all, and my Vector Pro gloves that were three times as much don't and smell like death.

I haven't really noticed a difference in smell between my cheap/higher end stuff. I always air my stuff out though. I think the anti-microbial stuff probably makes a bit of a difference if you just leave your stuff in your bag.

I used to be really bad about not airing out my stuff but since I added some new pieces and got some more space I always empty my bag after a game but some of it still has the funk

How hard is it really to take stuff out and let it air instead of leaving it in a bag?

My equipment doesn't smell at all, and it's not exactly top end.

for a lot of guys I know it's not about effort, it's about space. Try airing out a full set of equipment in a studio apartment you share with your gf.
