Steve Ott

Yet one of the nicest most down to earth people I've ever met. If he can get you distracted and focused on him, he's doing his job.

I understand that, but a guy like Sean Avery who does the same thing, will finish what he started. Ott just won't do it.

yeah, but when you're trying to injure someone, you should at least be man enough to stand up for your actions. Nice guy or not, it's hard to have any respect for guys that play like that.

Avery is very selective on who he'll "finish what he started" with. I haven't watched Ott play nearly as much as Avery, but I like him a lot more if only because he isn't a media whore.

Are there two Sean Averys in the NHL?

After Avery gave Lucic a cheapshot, Savard jumped him and when they were all seperated and only then he seemed like he wanted to go with anyone. He was real tough when he had a linesman inbetween him.

I loved how Ott got the gate with a little less than 10 minutes left in the game... "Gotta get me the funk outta here before I get my a** beat!"

I don't get to see too many Dallas games because I don't have Center Ice anymore... but I did see a recent piece on him on NHL Network. Seemed like a decent guy... but tonight, I kept asking myself "Is this the same dude?!" he played like an ass.... knee shots after the whistle? Insane.

It seemed like that was Dallas' gameplay, to get under the Bruins skin, but that plan totally backfired. It was like adding fuel to the fire. The Bruins gave them and old school beating. 5-1 I can see the whole getting under the skin technique, but when players start throwing dirty hits thats when it crosses the line. There is no need for that in hockey.

``Tonight, it was idiotic and stupid,'' Stars center Mike Modano said when asked what the team identity was. ``It was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen. If that's what we're going for, then they need to find me an office job.''

http://starsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2...rong-words.html

I've never heard anything like that from Modano publicly before, he's usually very reserved in his comments. Big props to him.

Wow - very un-Modano. I wonder, though, if he isn't saying that on behalf of Brendan Morrow, just so Morrow won't have to; former captain taking one for the new captain.

And Sean Avery can add Marc Savard to his 'List of People Who Have Pummeled Me'. It's not a very impressive list.

Correct me if i'm wrong but did Avery get pummeled by the same guy that in my opinion lost a fight to Sidney Crosby?

Ference hit Ott. Not Avery. Yes Ference did fight Crosby, but Crosby had his gloves on for most of the fight. I don't think that was a clean hockey fight.

Really? It seemed like a pretty normal fight to me, other than Sidney Crosby being involved in it.

For those of you who have only seen very little of the Stars, this is definitely an atypical game. Modano does have a point. Ott fights plenty of times, I think this is a symptom of the bigger problem in Dallas. This team has no identity nor direction this year.

Cherry ripped into Ott pretty bad after the Leafs/Rangers game on Saturday. Deserved it if you ask me, goes to show Don isn't always biased to the anglo-Canadian boys.

You run around like Ott does, you've got to answer the bell, bottom line. I don't care if he's the nicest guy in the world, when he won't even look a guy in the face who wants to fight him, that's pretty low if you ask me.

And don't forget Crosby kept his helmet on with the half-shield. Kinda hard to fight someone with one those on.

I saw the Ference/Crosby tilt live. It was a fair battle. Both guys had visors. They went hard into the corner and Crosby didn't like the rough treatment so he starting with a gloved shot or two. Not a bad way for Ference to get his name into the history books.

As for this Ott business, I have never lost so much respect for a player in a single night. Trying to low bridge two players and refusing to stand up for yourself, I thought I was watching Claude Lemieux play the B's and not Steve Ott. He will forever be a pussy in my eyes, regardless of what he does from this point forward.

I just watched highlights from this game and all I can say is WOW. I've always known Ott was a Class-A Douche Bag but wow, this just takes the cake. How stupid and how big of a coward is this guy? This team is chocked full of idiots like this. Avery, Ott and Morrow are 3 of the cheapest, dirtiest players in the NHL right now. Why they ever decided to bring in Avery to add to this crap is beyond me. Clearly its not working. And as for that Modano quote, thats what a real captain should be. He should be the captain. Morrow has no business whatsoever being a leader of this team. Kudos to Modano, and to the Bruins for kicking Dallas' a**.

I'm biased towards Morrow because I've liked him since juniors, but I've never thought of him as a dirty player. I've always thought he played hard and with an edge, which is different. He has also been lauded by many people for his leadership.

Both had visors on to begin with, and when fights happen like that, in the heat of the action, the players usually never take their own helemts off, your point isn't valid.
