This would be like Rangers fans voting Kalinin and Redden as ASG starters.

All I'm saying, is in the same flawed system...if the game was in New York...and the League put extra Rangers on the ballot (deserving or not)...who's to say that NYR fans wouldn't have done the same thing?

Just because the NYR fans might do it, doesn't make it right. The Montreal fans screwed it up. They have the right to do that as fans, but still very stupid voting for those players.

Perhaps someone should take a look at the history of this kind of thing. I don't recall as bad a homer vote into the starters as Komisarek and Price this year in year's past. Sure, some big name stars have been voted in as starters in the past when they shouldn't have been but I don't remember it being a homer problem like this year.

Heck, here are some games where no hometown boys were starters:

1997 - San Jose

1998 - Vancouver

1999 - TB (Krupp voted a starter as a member of Wings, just as bad as Komisarek)

2002 - LA

2004 - Minnesota

2007 - Dallas

2008 - Atlanta

I'm just waiting for the style shoot out fan vote:

51% Kovalev

48% Crosby

1% Ovechkin and everyone else

Doesn't matter what they do in that competition that will be the result.

Because NYR fans don't even like watching them in regular season games..... are Sanguinetti and Del Zotto ready yet? :(

NHLN (in Can...not sure in the US) has the practice on now. Young Stars are in their regular team jerseys, but the All Stars are in the AS jerseys for practice.

20,000 people to watch practice. Wow!

It's also on the NHL Network in the US. Impressive display from the fans. The one thing I haven't heard is if these people are going to be there for the skills or if they will have to clear out so they can fill up with other people.

Skills isn't until 6p tonight...so I'd assume that the crowds are different. Unless your Sat night ticket got you into practice as well...but I'm sure the option to grab a fee from 40,000 instead of 20,000 was considered.

Anyone know how much a practice ticket cost?

A thought on this shootout challenge. Instead of putting a Jr. B goalie in but telling him "let them score" why not put one of the rubber shooting targets up and give different sized holes to shoot at...bigger hole...less points...small hole...more points.

And as well as judging from fans/other players...there is a points element as well...so a GREAT move that doesn't score any points, and a lesser move that DOES score evens out a bit.

Nice bonus during the Hardest Shot. Each participant has put down $1000...matched by their teams...matched by the League....and the winner gets to donate the pot to the charity of their choice.

Classy.

Is there a complete list of times and tv schedules? Anywhere streaming online?

I found a little list of tonight on NHL network, but nothing beyond the hardest shot

That's what I suggested last year, but I would use something like the targets from the accuracy competition. Better to see a shot that misses the target end up the net rather than bouncing off the shooter tutor. Subtle difference in regards to how it would be perceived.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to one-up you and I'm sure others had the same thoughts as well. I just recall that coming up as we were mocking the way the NHL executed the skills competition last year.

No offense taken...It's too good an idea to have just been thought up (by me) JUST NOW!!!! *L*

Swayze....I saw Komisarek wearing #44...and had a HUGE brainfart on why he wasn't wearing 8 *LOL*

The tickets for this morning's practices were 15$ from what i heard so...20000 people X 15$...that's an extra 300000 bucks made in one morning haha. Pretty smart...15$ is cheap for the fans and you get to see a crapload of amazing players on the ice. Don't think that idea would everywhere around the league though ;)

That's pretty reasonable. Lines started at 6a, according to NHLN??? I can only imagine how cold THAT must've been.

Maybe it's already been answered, but what do the years on the sleeves of the jerseys mean???

Other years that the ASG has been in Montreal, I believe.

I'm not exactly happy about those dancers on the ice...

Good god...or the singing for that matter. You know she is the only one singing when they don't bother panning the audience...
