Bruins thread

Figured there are enough long-suffering B's fans so, why not.

Shockingly nice move by Axelsson in the shootout last night. Thank goodness the B's saved all that Glen Murray money so they could sign Ryder.

Here is the latest drivel from KPD. Let's bring in Burke because Chiarelli "neither courts nor enjoys the spotlight." I guess Chiarelli does not talk to KPD enough for his liking. Sound familiar?

Dale and Holley were talking about Burke coming to Boston on WEEI today (very briefly, because they hardly ever discuss hockey) saying that he could take over the GM position and Chiarelli could slide into the Presidents spot in the front office. Although Burke is probably going to Toronto, he would have been great for the job here; he even has a home in the Boston area. Chiarelli has done a good job putting this year's team together though.

I wasn't really surprised to see guy's like PJ and Wheeler thrown out there for the shootout, Julien probably figured hey we've already got a point on the road in an out of conference game let's give these guy's a shot. Both had great moves to score. It was funny watching the team gather around PJ and sort of rag on him a bit. Tonight should be a good one against the Habs.

In regards to Burke. People tend to forget about the mess he created in Vancouver. He did put together a nice team in Anaheim the year they won the cup, but has made his share of questionable moves. Not sure I'd be thrilled to see him take over for PC here. Who I think has done a pretty good job.

I was listening to it on the radio and Beers mentioned how the B's had practiced the shootout at the morning skate and he called PJ's backhander.

Chiarelli has done a good job as GM. Since Sinden in the late 80's early 90's. I think replacing him now would be a mistake. There would be no guarantee he would succeed.

What I'm liking is the unexpected offense, since the past two seasons have told us to expect a couple of lulls by Thomas throughout the season. It's possible they might win a couple of games this year that they would typically lose in the past.

Thomas is at his best when he doesn't get overworked. He definitely has fatigued in the last couple of seasons. As long as he plays around 45-50 games then he should be ok. When he gets above that then it becomes point night for the opposition.

Kessel coming of age is really helping the team right now.

Lucic pouned Komesarik! Finally!

This is a legitimate team. They are deep, they play for each other and look out for each other, the goaltending has been solid, they score, they play defense. It's awesome to finally have a decent team again!

WOO

Don't start planning the parade route just yet. It is a long season and we need to be sure this isn't just a November daydream.

Exactly... consistency has always been the thorn in their side. I'm a little disappointed Thomas got snubbed on the All Star Ballot.

Does Lucic remind anyone else of uclablogpixmatareal_vysu300.jpg ?

Ugliness aside, I really like Lucic. In fact, I like this Boston team more than any other Eastern team in quite some time.

I hope they don't keep this up for the Eastern Conference's sake. They looked solid out there, though at times the Leafs did look pretty...Leafy. Is there a #1 line in Toronto? Jesus.

It was good to see Lucic and Komisarek finally exchange pleasantries in their last tilt. That kind of matchup is just what the B's-Habs rivalry needs. A couple of guys that play hard, finish hits, and are willing to dance.

Wow, where did this offense come from???

Julien is a good coach. He got run out of Montreal too soon (I think) and got a huge Raw Deal in NJ...but I've never known him to be this wide open. He had a team in Hamilton that COULD be wide open (the 2002-2003 split year with Montreal/Edmonton) but since he's been in the NHL he's had a much more D-First system.

Boston and Chicago being important again is good for the League.

Hopefully Montreal can slow them down Saturday...on the night the Roy's 33 goes up...an s-word thingy would be awesome! I'd expect La Rock and Lucic to dance at least once early in that one too.

Bizarre game tonight.. 4-4 after the first period. B's and Sabres were just going back and forth in the first period. Glad the B's took control and held on for the W.

If I'm Lucic, I'm just laughing if Laraque asks me to go. Lucic isn't a star, but he is much too valuable to be fighting a 4th line goon whose hockey skills seem to be getting worse and worse.

I was talking more generally. They're tied for third in goals. Considering only five teams scored less goals than them last season, that was completely unexpected.

When the B's are winning, like other cities with their respective teams, the New England area has hockey fever. Like random co-workers commenting on the game last night, strangers saying stuff like, "Hey great game last night" when you're sporting B's colors, etc. I love that. I also like seeing non-fans give puck a chance to see what all the fuss about and they're converted newjack fans, at least up until May.

Julien is letting them play a bit more. Word is that management wanted a more uptempo game to try and put more people in the seats. Sitting back and counter attacking may be a good strategy for winning but it doesn't help with attendance, as NJ has proven over the years. It also helps that the Bruins are as healthy as they have been in years.
