Nike Bauer One 95 stick vs Warrior Dolomite

Recommended Posts

Hey i am a defensemen who is looking for a new stick. I have narrowed it down to the NB one95 or the Warrior Dolomite w/out the spyne. Could you tell me the pros and cons of each. Thanks

When shopping for a new twig, I narrowed my search down to the Dolomite and the One95. When I play I play on the wing. The main differences between the sticks are construction. The One95 is a true one-piece stick where the Dolomite is a two-piece fused stick. I found the blade on the One95 to have a softer feel and sound when stick handling with a Smart Hockey Ball. A couple Junior A players were in the store while I was looking at the sticks. They both use the One95 and have found it to be durable and gives some good "pop" on their shots. I went with a One95.

I've been using a One95 for about 2 months now. I have zero complaints about the stick...in fact its prob. the best stick I have used. Used a Dolo a few times in pick-up but not much experience with them beyond that.

having only held a one95 (but i use a dolomite) i'd say the one95 is a more balenced stick but thats down to personal preference. as mentioned, one95 has a mid kick point whereas the dolomite has a low one. which one would suit you best comes down to how you'd typically shoot. both are pretty durable. from an financial perspective, the dolo is going to be the cheaper stick and will be easily converted into a tapered 2 piece if you snap the blade, which will be no different to a OPS dolo from a performance point of view.

for a defencemen, go with the one95... the dolomite will last you longer, but i prefer the feel of the one95..

As far as which is better its personal preference. Ive had a few Dolomites, both retail and pro stock and they have all been quite durable. I also have a One95 and it too is very durable. Ive had a Dolomite break in the middle of the blade and a few in the heel but those occured after quite a bit of use. My One95 break just a few days before the 30 day warranty. Altough my One95 didnt last as long I prefer that stick over the Dolomite. The feel and overall performance of the One95 has been better than any of my Dolomites. Again it has alot to do personal preference thats just my 2 cents.

How can you say your one95 is very durable when it broke in less than 30 days ?

Well considering I used it for two hours a day for six days a week playing junior A hockey and it went through a bunch of hacks and skate marks, Id say it was pretty durable when any other stick wouldve broken after two weeks...

If your heel is getting worn your lie is probably too high.

I've never used a One95 but have used the Dolomite as my primary and now is my back-up---that thing is like an elepant gun--straight bombs.

What are the advantages between having a low kick point and a mid kick point?

mid kick point will allow you to lean into your shots more if you want, without that oh shit its gonna snap thought in the back of your head.

lie has nothing to do with stick height

Yes and no. Having the same knee bend and upper body posture withe a shorter stick will require a higher lie, and for the blade to be brought toward the skates.

Some people can play with a 5 or a 6 easily with the same stick length, other people need to get an optimal lie for their style, and other people will adjust the stick to different lies and naturally open/close the elbow of their upper hand to adjust to the length.

But the one95's kick point isnt in the middle. It is lower than the one90's.

NBH says "With its low-mid flex, and a torsionally stiffer lower third, the overall design creates more energy transfer per shot, resulting in greater velocity." My experience with the One95 are limited (only 2 icetimes) but I would agree, the stick has a nice low-mid kick and does have more zip on my shots.
