NBH One95 id with Tactile finish?

Recommended Posts

I'm seriously considering ordering a couple One95 sticks thru NBH id Program. I was wondering what does the Tactile finish look like and what are the benefits of this finish. I'm not a fan of "sticky" grip coating but I want some "grit" on the stick. NBH.com says this finish has "raised texture for enhanced feel". Is this the compromise that I'm looking for? Is the entire shaft wrapped in the Tactile finish? Please post photos of your sticks with Tactile finish and please give your personal experiences with this finish (looks, durability etc).

Thanks!

Mike

if you go through iD and you pick tactile you'll probably get the whole stick wrapped in tactile. The stuff on the retail one90s is what tactile is. I wouldn't call it gritty. It's more smooth and scaly than anything

Now I'm curious. You say smooth and scaly. By that, do you mean, like the warrior nipple grip where the shaft has a texture and a grip coating applied on top of it??? Unlike the smooth shaft of the non-grip warrior. I assume that the stick em' NBH grip is the one that is a thicker layer of grip over a smooth shaft?

think nipple grip without the grip coating over it

Except the nipple grip only really works in one direction.

You can see the shaft detail in that picture, even though that's the One75.

Tactile from Bauer is just a bumpy finish, like a wider, pronounced version of the bumps on Easton's sticks. I think they're bigger than the nippling on Warrior sticks as well.

I'm not quite a fan of the soft grips and prefer tactile, but I'm not sure how much I like Bauer's.

its a picture of my id sticks, they have tactile on them. the shaft is basically wrapped in a mini checkerboard. to visualize it, think of the black squares raised, the red squares lowered. it has a slick feel to the bare hand but has the squares that are raised up.

A buddy of mine has two. The tactile is just like the picture listed of the one75, but it is only around the corners of the shaft. it's not gritty like polar fibre, more of a smooth scaly grip, as named above.

I just went to my LHS and they just got another shipment of One90's to clear out. One of the sticks had the Tactile finish on it. It is quite a bit different from the standard finish. It is smooth but has a pronounced "basket weave" look to it and "bumpier" feel to the shaft. I really like the look and feel of the Tactile finish. The LHS manager said the finish is very popular when they do sticks thru their Bauer id Program. He couldn't tell me if NBH wraps the entire shaft on the One95 id sticks since they haven't done a id order for a One95. I hope they do because I'm sold on it and want to do an order!

I disagree, the finish on Richard's stick appears to be the same as the Tactile finish I saw on a One90. The regular finish One95 is much smaller.

It looks like the Tactile only goes part way down the shaft on Richards' stick.

Mike Richards One95 stick

The retail One90 had the tactile texture on the full length of the shaft, the new One95 only has a tactile texture on a portion of the shaft.

Thanks! I searched Getty Images for pics of guys using the One95 stick. There were a few shots of guys with One95's this the more pronounced Tactile on the upper part of the shaft only. I'm waiting for my LHS to confirm this with NBH.

Confirmed by Chris at The Hockey Shop and Shooter27, the One95 Tactile finish only covers the top section of the shaft. Damn, I was hoping it would cover the entire shaft! What to do, what to do? Is it worth the extra cash to get the id stick with Tactile and personalized or should I just go to a retail stick?

Why would you need tactile grip on the taper?

After seeing a One90 with Tactile finish down to the blade I thought the wrap would provide a bit more protection to the shaft and possibly stand up longer. I also found the uncut One90 with Tactile in 77 Flex felt about a half flex stiffer than an uncut One95 in 77 Flex. I guess I'm finding myself in damned if I do and damned if I don't position; I prefer the flex of the One90 with Tactile over the whippier 77 Flex One95 (the 87 Flex was a shade too stiff). It feels like it will the perfect balance of flex and firmness one I cut it down 1.75". I suspect even after cutting off 1.75" of a One95 it will still be too whippy for my tastes. On the other hand, I love the soft feel of the One95's blade and the black base color of the stick.

I hate to hijack this thread for myself, but I figure it's a better alternative than starting a new topic.

Here's the deal. I'm considering having a One95 stick done up via NikeBauer iD. myself. I want both the precision tactile grip and the stick'um grip on the stick ala retail One95 Grip. When I get to the "grip" tab on the NikeBauer iD. customizer, there are 4 options:

1. Standard

2. Stick'um

3. Tactile

4. Tactile with Stick'um

I want option #2 then, right?

Correct, option 4. The Retail Tactile on non-stick'um one95's does not come on the iD sticks, so you would need to select both grips.

Thread jack #2:

If I order a stick through NBH iD without a "grip" selected, does it come with the tactile just on the corners of the shaft like the retail version, or is it completely smooth? If I select "tactile", does it wrap the entire shaft or just the corners? Thanks in advance.

If you order a stick with Option#1 Standard, the shaft will be the same as the retail non-Stick Um version of the One95. If you go with Option #3 Tactile, the Tactile will wrap the entire circumfrence of the shaft and run down the shaft to where the Nike Swoosh/Bauer logo are on the stick.

Actually, no. I got option 1 and there is no grip whatsoever. There is the paint on the corners, but no raised bumps.
