Whatever happend to Felix "the Cat" Potvin?

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much for this article. Magog is my hometown and i've been playing with Félix in a competitive beer league on Sunday nights for the past 2 years. Fortunately for us, he's a winger in the league and his shot and hands are very surprising.

I was JUST thinking the same thing the other day. Was listenin to NHL Live on Sat Radio, and they were talkin bout Roy's retirement night, and brought up his fights, the Vernon, Osgood, and in passing mentioned Felix's fight. Made me wonder whatever the hell happened to him. Now I Know. :)

Thanks for this article also! The Cat was one of my favorite goalies growing up and he was the reason why I played goal for a few seasons! Just last week I was looking up google on him and I found a french article on him coaching the Magog team.

i saw him practice with them not too long ago. my team played stanstead college over there and we stayed over in magog. i can see exactly why he likes it there... small town nice atmosphere great hockey. i will say one thing. he does like to help out the goalies with things which is nice because there is a lack of quality goalie coaches in the amatuer ranks of hockey.

He once played in the net instead of his usual winger position in the beer league i was mentioning earlier. While it was fun to see how good these guys really are, the game was very boring; nobody would pass the puck, all they wanted was to take the shot and maybe score on "The Cat", like that was some kind of extraordinary achievement.

eddyo57, what did you think of stanstead college's rink? Worst place i know, i'm pretty sure the ice is natural and the zamboni is a farm tractor.

Did he still have his old gear on? I've always loved Potvins equipment as a set. He was the reason I wanted to be a goalie.
