Easton S11 vs SC6

Recommended Posts

So I broke my warrior last week and I need a new one-piece composite stick. I've been looking mainly at Easton because I haven't had a chance to try out their sticks and because I've heard good things about them.

I'm mainly looking at the stealth S11 grip or synergy SC6 grip or maybe even SC2 depending on the difference in performance. As you can tell I don't feel like spending over $150 for a stick.

Just need some opinions on which stick I should go with and why.

Feel free to make a suggestion regarding another stick but make sure it's in my price range please.

Thanks guys.

I would but I live in Canada so with customs and brokerage that will come to around or over $200.

I'm going to be buying from the lhs because I don't have to pay shipping and the economy is welfare so I might as well try and save it.

A synergy ST is like $180 at least at my lhs. (I'm in Canada so pretty much look at hockeymonkey and look at the "reg price" and that will be what I have to pay).

Hey buddy, I just bought a couple of S11's and it's the best stick I've used. I bought a pro stock dolomite shaft with a mission head before the Eastons, used it half a dozen times and sold it as I absolutley hated it. Couldn't shoot with it, I had no feel, and the shape of the shaft didn't suit me at all. I bought the S11 and everything has come back!

The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is the flex. The shaft is a lot whippier than the 100 that it states, so be mindful of that. If I break these I wouldn't hesitate in buying another one.

How long have you had it and have you had any durability issues yet?

I've had it for about 5 games now. I weigh 90-94kg's, am 6'4" and take predominantly slapshots and so far so good.

From what I hear they are less prone to having issues than the S17, which is why I went for it.

Fiberglass is heavier, lower performing and provides less feel/response. The fiberglass shafts I've used have all been absolute tanks though.

Interesting....So the SC6 is less performing but more durable while the s11 is lighter, more performance but is more prone to breaking?

I have an s11, its a good overall stick, but i noticed that when i change the tape, sometimes the paint or whatever kind sticks to the tape so the paint thing kinda falling of, but the stick still works as well as the first day. i have used it around 10 times

I have the same problem with my SC6.

I like my SC6 a lot and IMO its a very good stick for the price but ive never had a high/top end stick before so i dont really know how it measures up to them.

Inevitably, both sticks will break at some point. The S11, being a step down from the S17, will have better performance than the SC6. The SC6 is a friggin tank, just like the S5. So its up to you to weigh the pros and cons. Performance, vs potentially longer durability. Each have the 30 day warranty, so that's something to keep in the back of your mind. Personally, I'd take the S11 because I've always used performance over durability. Drove my parents check book mad for the longest time. Now it comes out of my own pocket, so I'm more careful with them. Or at least I'd like to think so. One handed slashes is taking care of them right? :P

I held one of the 999's in my hand yesterday (basically the same, smu for source for spots) and I loved the feel and shape of the shaft, I ended up walking out of the store with a vapor XVI cause I wanted to try the 77 flex but after hearing about all the stealths being whippier than advertised I'm tempted to try and exchange it. You do get the eliptical taper with the s11 which would be nice to try but that being said theres not much chance of making it into a shaft without flipping, if that means anything to you.

edit : did go and exchange this morning, I held the 999 with an s17 and I'm not sure about the s11 but the 999 was much more square compared to the s17, I kind of like it, won't get to use it for a little while but I'm glad I made the switch.

On a side note, anyone know why bauer sticks list a change in flex of roughly 7 for every 2" cut off the shaft whereas eastons are labeled 85 at 58" and 90 at 55", not a big deal, just curious

Same thing happens w/ my Synergy SL... it's just a cosmetic issue though, nothing a little tape or spray paint won't take care of ;)

I picked up an S11 a few weeks back and tried it out for a few shifts, I liked the feel of the stick but it just felt a little too stiff and dead on slap shots as compared to the Synergy SL which is a bit whippier. It may just need to break in a little but I didn't give it much of a chance that game (which was the last of my mens league season, so still waiting for another go with it). Both the S11 and the Synergy SL are 85flex and have been cut down the same amount, I'm about 5'9" and around 165lbs and before this year have used 85flex Z-bubbles since they first came out. I think I just have to give the S11 another chance and then I'll love it like I do the Synergy.

o, i have the s11 and a tps r4 and both are around 65 flex (ya, im kinda weak, lol) and i noticed that the s11's slappers suck, but i can rocket the puck with the tps, which might be like a 70 flex. I just dont get it. The S11s curve is Iginla and the R4s curve is Afinogenov

I find the S11 very whippy after coming from 2 piece sticks. It's probably my only minor complaint and I'm using a 100 flex.

I haven't found slapshots to suffer too much though. But everyone has their own preferences
