U+ Stick Durability

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had any problems with the durability of the U+ sticks? I was looking at them at my LHS, but decided not to get one because I didn't know if it was a pile, or if it was a good stick. Right now I'm using a One95.

Mine's been holding up pretty well.

They peel quickly, and the toes get chewed a bit.

The weird layer on the blade comes off easily, but other than that, it's been a wonderful stick to me.

there's a break point on it though, its just under the U+ logo on the stick just above the blade, i've had 2 friends break at the exact same point within a week or 2, but their second one has been lasting for a while. But i say that place on the shaft is a break point because they both work at hockey stores and say about 75% of broken U+ returned broke at the exact same location.

I have been using the u+ for over a month with no issue. The top layer peels easy but there is no damage to shaft. I don't take many slappers, so my durability would be based on faceoffs and slashes.

Great stick for me so far.

Yeah mine broke there too... it lasted about 3 months for me which is slightly shorter then most sticks i have used

I've had mine for a little while now and it's holding up well. The clear coat on the shaft comes right off, I went to retape my stick and the tape i took off basically fell off with the clear coat sticking to it. Other than that it's held up really well. It's taken a serious beating a few games and other than a few scuffs it's still looking new. I actually had someone step on the blade smack the shaft to the ice and other than a small nick where the skate hit the stick it was golden. So I would say mine have been really durable. Puck feel is alrite, better than my eastons but not as good as my dolomite. It's a pretty good stick. I'll stick with my dolomites though.

Any word on the U+ CL for durability? I just broke my U+ within the warranty and sent it back. I assume I will be getting back a CL.

u+ is still n the line, so you might just get another one.

Just looked at the catalog and saw that. For some reason I thoght the CL replaced the regular U+. Hopefully this one hold up a bit better. I really liked it. I had never broken a stick within the warranty period before this stick.

I just got a U+, used it three times, and it's starting to break in that exact spot. The top layer of the carbon is starting to peel off. I'm going to call CCM about getting it warrantied.

Anyone have any information on the U+ LE? That is what I got back from the warranty center when my U+ broke. The reason I ask is it doesn't feel like a U+. It is heavier than my U+ and feels kinda similar to my V10. The taper isn't near as long as my old U+ either. Once again it looks more like my V10.

That is what I got back. I think I am going to give them a call and see what I can do. Kinda of a rip off they sent me this back.

HattrickSwayze - Did CCM warranty yours? What did they send you back? I picked one up at TotalHockey as well. Toe is a bit chewed up but only used 1 time. Love the stick, hope it lasts longer than yours.

I'm calling CCM today, been busy/lazy. I can't imagine they won't, but we'll see. The toe on mine was chewed up after one use as well, which seemed a little odd, since it was only a low-key pick-up game. Not the time I would've been scooping pucks off the boards or have anyone step on it. I love the stick as well, I just hope they aren't all this flimsy.

EDIT: They're taking it back on warranty for the carbon peeling off. I'll send it out soon, and hope I get a U+ back and not a U+ LE. Maybe they'll love me and send me a CL. I can wish, right?

I just called about them sending me the LE. They didn't have the curve or flex I use in the U+ so they sent me the LE. They are now sending me a CL instead and letting me keep the LE.
