Two different sized skates

Recommended Posts

Not sure if I worded the title all that well, but here's my (stupid) question- My feet differ in size by a half size (right is 7.5, left is 8.0) so I have been having an impossible time finding a pair of skates that fit. Right now I am in Supreme 70's size 8.0W, and my left foot fits like a glove. My right feels like crap though- cant even come close to the front of the toe box.

I'm wondering what kind of issues I might have if I got another pair of supremes in 7.5W and just skated on a miss-matched pair? that seems to actually be my least expensive option, if I can track a pair down. My LHS has suggested I go with custom Grafs, which would run about $500, but I only paid $250 for the pair of supremes I now have. Any precautions I should take when doing so?

only thing is you might be skating on two different sized holders, (280 and 272)

assuming they will fit, you can always get the shorter or longer holder mounted on the other boot and it should produce no problems

Custom Bauers are a good option. Custom sizing would obviously be the one option you are most interested in but you could also get custom + holders instead of lightspeeds, extra volume added, or felt tongues if you're into that sorta thing. They are expensive as they only offer their top of the line skates for customization but its worth it in my opinion.

My feet have a full size difference. 10 vs 9. I got custom one90s and couldn't be happier. Yes, they are more expensive, but they are worth it. It's amazing what a properly fitting skate will do for you.

Agreed on the custom route. I'm a half size different as well and finally decided that custom is the only way to go.

My skates are still a few weeks away though.
