Custom Eagle PPF's or Warrior Fanchises

Recommended Posts

correct me if i'm wrong but ive read around here that they dont fit very similarly. Franchises are a fairly loose fitting glove, like an eagle x70 or cp94 while the ppfs tend to fit more snugly, like the older MIA mb11

If you're going retail I would have to say Franchises....I've tried both on at Monkey in a side by side comparison situation and IMO Franchises feel much better than PPF's.

Now if you're going custom, it's up for further debate on which would feel better...it likely all comes down to PP though.

If it was coming out of my pocket, it would be eagles. I paid full retail for my current pair, just about the only thing I have paid full retail for in years.

The micronash is soft but it sheds and it well scuffed after one use, they're also really hot. The MSH2 palm is a little cooler and doesnt really scuff(Although the Eagles aren't exactly cool to wear). The single layer palm on my x72s are slightly discolored after almost a year of use as my primary gloves. Eagles are also double stitched in some places where the Warrior/MIA's are single stitched.

I do find that if you take the Eagles off after a shift, by the next shift the pam gets really cold... That is nice.

...But to each their own.

I loved the PPF+ fit when I tried them on, never felt a glove that perfect on my hand in terms of finger length, snugness, width... The only thing I would change would be the PPF cuffs on the PPF+ to shorten the + a bit, but they are my ideal pair at this point. If they weren't Hockeyworld SMU hybrid (porto glove with maybe 1/2 nylon, nasty) I may have walked away with them on sale for $150.

I tried on some Franchises at the same time. They felt broken in and flexible, but the palm did not instill much confidence, and I'm still shaky on the reliability of mesh gussets. The glove just didn't feel at buttery and delicious as the PPF did. You might prefer them over the Eagles though, the two gloves aren't that similar.

Don't know if you are still looking but my vote is for Eagles. Just like Rustpot I tried them on and thought they were amazing! Would have also walked away with them in a heartbeat if they weren't "hybrid". The fit on them is really nice, they don't flop around at all and are as light as a feather!

dont mean to hijack, but does anyone know if warrior offers purple as an accent color on their gloves? i want to do all black with a purple stripe and purple binding to match my team. its not on the customizer but i know people have called up and made requests that have seemed to work out for the most part.

I've played a team with purple on their warriors

I like Muskoka's the best though, they weigh next to nothing. I'm not sure about durability though

MIA/Warrior doesn't offer purple in tufftek but they offer a dark purple in the synthetic leather (classic) and light purple in the carbon material.

how much do custom PPF's go for?

i know custom franchise's are about 200

i was thinking about getting a pair too

Depends on what you want. I was looking into custom PPF's but scored a sweet deal on some new ones on here so I gave up! If I had to guess I would say you'd probably be over $200, depending of course.

Haven't had experiences w/ Warrior gloves, but I have a pair of retail PPFi's and it is the more comfortable fitting glove strait off the shelves I've ever put on. The fit is nice and tight around the palm area w/ nice range of motion around the cuff.

I highly promote the Eagle's!

They fit differently so I would highly recomend trying them on first before you decide to purchase. For me, Eagle gloves just don't fit right. The regular PPF is too large especially in the fingers but the PPFi is way too short in the palm area. Warrior/MIA fits me better. Although Eagle is a more customizable glove. If I so desired, they could put intermediate fingers on a PPF glove. This fact also makes Eagle the slightly more expensive glove. I just stick with my Bauer 4-Rolls which were half the price.

Buying from Warrior direct they quote a higher price than I paid for my custom eagles, with modified logos, custom finger length and a single-layer palm.

Definitely go with the PPF'S. I have a custom pair and they are by far the best pair I have ever worn. I was coming from the NBH Pro Rolls and they felt similar but more open around the wrist. Having worn Warrior gloves as well, I would say that if you prefer a looser fit than go with the Warriors but if you like the way Pro Rolls feel go with PPF's.
