Super Feet!?

Recommended Posts

I use Superfeet black currently in my NBH XXV cause the grey ones were reducing volume in the boot too much for me. In my running shoes I use the green and now can make that 10 mile run much easier and with less pain in the knees post run.Great product if adjusted for use and foot profile

I put the grey ones in my G35's and the difference was noticeable, but not so much that I wouldn't be able to go back to the regular insole. The skates came with Graf's black ergo-something something footbed, which actually felt good to skate in but I figured I'd give the Superfeet a try. No dramatic change for me.

And about the black ones... are those the ones you were referring to?

I just got a new pair of Easton S15 and got them baked with the stock insoles. My question is, since the stock s15 insoles have a heel lift in them, will putting the super feet in affect the way that my skates fit. Any help would be appreciated. I want to make sure before I buy them.

it depends whether you had removed the heel lifts from the stock S15 insoles before baking or not, because if you didn't then you might be Ok (stock lift is ~ 5mm, superfeet's one ~ 3mm)

the problems might be in the arch area (again depending on your foot whether the arch collapsed when you baked for the firts time or not - stock S15 insoles have 0 support in the arch) so normally it's recomended to bake with the insole that you're going to use

one thing for sure - I'd be hesitant to bake S15 twice (or even once for thhat matter) since they don't react much to baking, but it's been indicated that baking does affect the glue causing it to fall appart (in the first get S15 for sure - hopefully they improved second gen)

can anyone comment on the thickness of the different superfeet insoles available? i have some minor arch ache in my one90's with the stock insole, but the skates are not quite as deep as i'd ike them to be. the stock insole is super thin, so i'm afraid if i go any thicker, i'll have serious fit problems. (i tried a shock doctor insole, and it was way too thick... skates didn't fit anymore) is there a superfeet model that's particularly thin?

does the insoles, mold to your boot if you get them baked? or it already stays in shape without getting it mold... because i'm buying them tomorrow and don't know... what to do, and because i want them to have the shape of my boot.

try the trim to fits first, they fit the majority of people.

you dont want to put them in the oven, it doesnt do anything really, but its not recommended.

if you really like superfeet, you can always go the custom route, which is what i did, and it has worked much better than the trim to fits for me.

i do know some people that prefer the trim to fits to customs, and from the superfeet rep, i heard much of the nhl teams and college teams he works with are in trim to fits

Yes, Superfeet are most likely worth it (I have the grey ones).

I will give you an example or two. Got a pair of Mission S400s dirt cheap last week. Wore them with the stock foot beds, and they were the most uncomfortable skates I have ever worn. My arches were screaming for mercy. Threw the Superfeet in from my 10-90s and they are now one of the nicest skates I have ever owned. Stock insoles were horrible, no support.

However, if you have a pair of skates with good insoles, you may not gain much. For example, the Sidas insoles in my Graf 735s are pretty close to the Superfeet. Might not be worth it in that case.

What are you putting them in?

Im putting them in Graf Supra G5s

I found the Sidas (Graf) insoles pretty good. If you need a bit more volume, I feel the grey Superfeet when in my Grafs take up less space. I use the Graf insoles in my 735s and the Superfeet in all the other skates I have.

Yes superfeet insoles are trim to fit. What matters most is that your foot is properly supported in the right area.

Superfeet are not necessarily good for everyone. I had some in my RBKs and after a few weeks I started getting pain above one of my knees. I went back to the stock insoles and the pain left. I tried the Superfeet again and the pain returned so I'm stayng with the stock insoles. I had custom orthotics a few years ago and their arch was much farther forward than the Superfeet. So keep in mind that not everyone's footshape and biomechanics are compatible with the generic shape of Superfeet.

Love those superfeet! Have them in both my skates, ccm v10. I did some 'customization' to the arch area. Now they feel great!

As far as their thickness, this is what I've found out: (going from thickest to thinnest) shock doctor > graf > superfeet > most stock insoles.

Hope that helps. :)

Are you talking about the old Graf insoles or the new ones? Graf recently now has their own version of Superfeet in their skate, and they used to have just a normal insole.

When I first got SF I cut them then stuck them in my S15s and baked them with the skate. I had no issues with the process and I think that they actually fit better because everything molded together. IMO, I think that this method works great.

Ditto. Had superfeet greys in my old flexlights and noticed a major difference in support.

In my 735's, the stock insoles gave me the same support. I swapped in the Superfeet for a few skates, and there was no difference, so I just threw the original graf insoles back in there, and put the superfeet back in my old nikes for rec skates with my kids.

I've got the Grey Superfeet and some Sidas non-custom insoles in my hands right now...

The Sidas foam is significantly thinner and softer than the Superfeet foam. The Superfeet have a significantly more pronounced and reinforced heel-cup, arch, and heel-toe pitch (more closely matching the skate).

IMO, the Graf Sidas insoles are way, way better than the flimsy old things that come in most skates, but they're not even close to Superfeet in terms of support and durability.

As for the Sidas Customs that come with the Graf Ultra-series (though they'll work in any skate), they're much more impressive in construction but HUGELY dependent on the nature of your feet and the skill of the operator who makes them for you.

Should I match the SuperFeet size to my skate size or shoe size? May be a dumb question, but like a lot of people I fall in two different categories with a size 12 shoes and size 10 skate

With the trim to fit Superfeet, you have to buy the size that lines up properly with your arch, and that is not necessarily the size that that you take in skates or shoes. For me, I need the next size up in order for the arch to line up.

Sounds like that may be the case for you too.

Neither. Match the Superfeet to your foot, and then trim to fit the skate (or shoe) as necessary. You're looking for two things: a solid seat in the heel (which Superfeet have helpfully diagrammed in the small manual inside the box), and a good lengthwise match from the arch of the insole to the arch of your foot.

With skates, there is a third concern: whether the heel of the insole will fit in the heel of the skate. In my case, correctly sized Superfeet did not fit in the skate; compromised, dropped a size, and all was well.

they're definitely great, but if i could change one thing i would like the top covering to be a bit "grippier" like bauer's "grip" footbeds, which were basically grippy felt on foam. i just always preferred a grippy footbed to something less.

but the good greatly outweighs the bad.
