Skull Caps, do you wear one?

Recommended Posts

I wear one reffing, and it works very well keeping the sweat out of my eyes / visor. It is also thin enough so that the helmet's ventilation still works.

I wear one sometimes it's hit or miss...with my new helmet (9500) the skully gets wet and then my head gets cold...my old helmet (4500) it was a life saver and kept sweat out of my eyes.

During drills/practice I don't wear it cause I sweat too much and then my melon gets cold...during a game I will wear it sometimes...

boy that was not much help...ohhh well you'll have to try it out for yourself...they are cheap and could be great for you!

I wear the underarmor one and it keeps sweat from dripping onto my visor unless I get knocked down or accidentally tripped or something. I have only worn it playing roller though, so I couldn't tell you about ice. Mine gets soaked in sweat so that I could see your head getting cold playing ice.

Too much moving around in my Intake. I go the sweat band route in particular the Halo headband with the sweat channeling strip on the inside. Although not fullproof, I wear it under all my helmets

I am a pretty heavy swearter in the face/head

What he said.

If you have problems with sweat on your visor then use one. You will never have the problem again.

I wore an under armour one for a while. It seemed to absorb a lot of the sweat, but I'd get too hot wearing it. I stopped wearing it and now I just bring a towel to the bench with me. I like the towel better.

I used UnderArmour ones with my old helmet (Bauer 8000), but it just didn't work properly when I got an Intake. The band on the skullcap would sit way too low - below the foam of the helmet - so that causes it to slip and move around. It's too bad, because the skullcap sucked up a ton of sweat for me. When I'd wring it out after a game, I'd swear at least a quarter cup of sweat would come out. I really liked wearing it, because I sweat like a pig and I felt that it kept me cooler.

I got 5 stitches in my dome and had to wear one for the first time in my last game. Once you get playing and sweaty you forget its there and does help keep sweat out of your eyes. I agree with jsmart i could see it working depending on your helmet.

How is the sizing on the under armour? I am not sure about the one size fits most. I wear a medium 8k closed all the way. Would probably wear a small if it was wide enough.

Halo, Craft, all make skullcaps. I know you wanna protect this house and be Ray Lewis's biach but think outside the box and find something at your local outdoor, cycle, running etc stores

I've used the Swetgard band a few times now and I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't had any sweat in my eyes and the band is dripping wet after a game.

I just bought one online thanks to your suggestion. I'm hoping it will be cooler then my skull cap, which worked good but... I like to try new things.

I ended up getting a headsweats skull cap from my local bike shop. It fit better than the under armour. Got a chance to use it yesterday and it worked great.

I got an under armour one at the UA outlet shop in Leesburg (here in the DC area), and it's OK. I generally have my head shaved to a 1 blade, and if it's tight, then the UA is fine, but if I go more than 2-3 weeks without getting my hair cut, then it's not that great.

I have a Seirus Thermax skully I got at the local REI too, which I particularly like now, being that fairfax ice arena is cold as balls, and it works great too.

Under Armor also makes Skull Wraps. I am a girl and that helps keep hair out of your face and is great for the sweat as well. It is also not as hot as wearing a skull wrap since the top is open.

If your problem is trying to get it out of your eyes try this

http://www.sweatgutr.com/home.html

it is worn by mostly Tour de France bikers and alot of Triathletes.
