one95 tongue question

Recommended Posts

I've been skating on the one95s for around a month now, and the tongue still is feeling pretty stiff forward flex wise compared to my old 8090 tongue. I noticed the lace bite guard is a lot thicker on the one95. I was wondering if there were any tricks to soften them up? Maybe alil heat gun; not something that is killing me but I still notice it.

Worst case scenario, you can make a slit along the top of the mesh on the front of the tongue and take out the plastic. I was thinking about doing this, but I just got used to it.

This is hard to describe with just words, but google search it, I found it on another forum. (I forget which one, sorry)

-Take the laces out of the top 3 eyelets or so, and bring the laces up behind the tongue.

-Pull them up the center of the tongue forcing the tongue to almost touch the toe of the skate.

-Tie the laces on the blade holder like a goalie does with a toestrap. (the tongue should be held in a curled position)

-Leave them overnight and they'll be curved permanently.

I did it and it's felt fantastic ever since, I can't notice the hard plastic in the tongue anymore!
