Mislabeled / Mismanufactured Sticks or Blades

Recommended Posts

I bought a blade off of a member over a year ago, and just had it sitting in my garage for a while. Finally pulled it out to use back in October, and realized that it was either completely mismanufactured, or some putz at Warrior slapped on the wrong label.

It's a Dolomite 2 blade, marked as SR RH Fedorov Lie 4.

Everything is right... except the lie part. It's looking like almost a 6.5. The below picture is the blade compared to a "normal" Lie 4 Dolomite 2 blade.

Anyone encounter something like this?

Warrior has its own lie labeling system. In no way is a Warrior 4,5,6 close to being equivalent to an Easton/RBK/or whatever's 4,5,6.

Why they did this on their sticks I haven't the foggiest.

edit: Whoa, didn't realize you were matching it up with another Warrior...maybe from different years/production runs?

Looking at it, based on the lie at the heel(which I believe is the way Warrior measures lie), it's pretty close.

I really wish there was a standard, middle of the blade measurement for lie.

I was under the impression that lie was based on angle between the flat edge of the blade and the hosel, not just a heel measurement. Most blades have a rocker in the heel, but it seems that either they went too far, or continued the rocker through the blade.

No comment on the blade as I really don't know much about blades... But I do wish camera companies would lay back on the megapixels in cameras, massive pictures are so damned annoying not everyone has super fast broadband or anything like that...

Soory, it's just a pet-hate

The only real miss-manufactured stick I have is a Brooks Laich Right Hand Synergy Elite from the Washington Caps. Broosky is a left hand shot. I got him to sign it and asked him about it and he said Easton just screwed up and sent him his curve, and everything else but in a right hand.

Nothing super special but I think its neat.

I've seen a handful of Easton blades at a LHS that had the pattern crossed out and a sticker indicating the correct pattern. And I did get a 70 flex Octane that was so ridiculously stiff it HAD to be a 95 flex mislabeled.

Hence the issue with all of Warrior's lies being lower than Eastons and incomparable to different Warrior patterns.

There is definitely a way to be more accurate. It might not be dead-center in the middle of the blade, maybe the terminology might be different. Instead of "5.5 lie", maybe "5.5LR lie" with "LR" short for large rocker. A blade with a large rocker will play more similar to one with a small rocker near the middle of the blade moreso than the heel of the blade.

ATLStealth - I have warned people time and time again about this. There is no need to put a pic THAT big in a thread.

Duly noted. Sorry about that. I don't think I had been very active in September.
