Pear brand hockey socks?

Recommended Posts

I was looking for some yellow Bruins edge pro socks but didn't find much, I did find some Pear hockey socks on ebay though and have never heard of them. The description sounds like it's a little fancier than a traditional knit sock but I was wondering exactly how it would compare to the edge style socks? I may just end up getting some retail edge socks in the end if I can't find the pro edge ones or if the Pear are nothing more than a glorified knit sock.

Thanks for any help.

I'd be interested to know as well. The tag on my retail EDGE socks says they're 100% polyester. Pear Sox' catalog says their mesh socks are also 100% polyester.

I have a pair of knit/wool socks that are labeled by Pear, and they don't feel any different than my other knit/wool socks.

The Pear 'pro' socks are just a nice quality knit sock totally unlike the Edge socks. I know Pear has a website with a .pdf catalog on it and they do make other styles as well. Just can't find the link right now...

The one's that I'm talking about are in their catalog, they're called "mesh socks." It says they're made out of 100% polyester like my EDGE retails, but I haven't found anywhere online that sells them. They probably only sell in bulk amounts for team orders, so it might be hard to find a pair.

The catalog is here.

Pro weight is a "normal" hockey sock, a little thicker and a little more loose in the knit to stretch more. Their mesh socks are just a very wide open mesh. We used to sell Pear Sox and I still have a pair of the all black mesh socks that I wear in the summer.

Nice that they have the 3rd uni socks, my little guy would love a pair of retro oilers socks to match his jersey.

Pear Sox is the most common brand out there..from what I've seen anyways. I've got a pair of the mesh sox as well for our summer league. I'm not sure if they're any more/less durable than the RBK edge sox, but mine have a couple small rips, but they've never gotten any bigger. I actually prefer them to my knit sox..They're lighter and I can leave em in the bag w/o worrying about them getting soaked with moisture. Plus the wash/wear well.

We use them for a lot of stuff. We carry a full line of their solid colored practice socks, NHL stock socks for the local teams that use them, and their Ultra Weight feet socks for the people that dont wanna spend $8.99 on a pair of socks (the Ultra weight sells for roughly $4/pair). We also use them for probably 85% of our custom hockey sock orders. Great turn around time and we havent had any real issues with the durability of the socks. Their practice jerseys always seem to be in stock and we use them as a back up incase our number 1 supplier is out. New product this year that i think is gonna sell great is their solid mesh practice sock. Its made out of the same material as their practice jerseys and i think its gonna sell great for everyone that doesnt wanna spend $25 on the Rbk edge socks! Overall great company to have in your line up

Mesh was always available from Pear and the turnaround time was very fast. Being an hour or so drive down the road didn't hurt though as we would often pick up instead of having them ship.

Didnt know the mesh sock was always available prior to 09. Our rep just showed it to us a few months ago saying this was a new product they just came out with. Same material as their practice jerseys. I've never seen it in their catalog either.

I have a pair from '05 or so that are still in great shape, though it's the mesh with the larger holes. It's fantastic for summer hockey in the northeast where the humidity is higher than the temperature as often as not. It was either on the list or in the catalog a few years back, I haven't looked recently though, they must have removed it at some point. They were always great people to deal with too, that's a big thing for me.

Slightly off topic, the new mesh/dazzle mix sock from K1 looks really interesting.

Do you have a pic or link to those Chadd?

Nope. I saw them at the show and the catalog pic online is just a rendering. Catalog is K1hockey.com If I do a set for my team I'll post up a couple pics.
