Which is a wider skate?

Recommended Posts

The CCM U+ has a very wide heel though, much like the RBK line without the pump.

Sigh.

Why would they do that? People complain about that in RBK skates all the time, and it can't be compensated without the pump...

So one person says the one95 is wider, another person says the U+ is wider??? I thought CCM generally had wider cuts then Bauer but I guess this can change from year to year and model to model.

Rofl You went with the wide in Vapor. Did you try the wide in CCM also or are u talking D width CCM vs EE in Bauer?

U+ I thought was wider that one95.

Argggh sounds like the old "Bauer is better so no matter what it is pick Bauer."

the u+ has very little to no heel lock

the one95 is a way better skate

Thank you for demonstrating my post above about Bauer is better no matter what.

The poster asked which skate is WIDER!

He didnt ask about heel lock or what u believe was better. He asked about WIDER!

They both seemed the same to me, just that the one96 fit in the heel and the u+ didn't

70% of NHL players wear Bauer, I guess they think it's better no matter what

Again reading comprehension is the key factor here.

Stay with me WIDER.

He didnt ask what some NHL players like. As to feel the same I honestly dont think you tried on the U+ if you are making that statement.

If you think that the U+ is wider than the one95 then they must ship different size boots to different areas of the country/world. I sat at the Hockey Expo in St Paul and had every single size of U+ in front of me, I tried on all widths in my size and at no time was there even a hint of possibility that I would be able to buy U+'s, WAY too narrow. I was also assisted by a CCM Representative. If I am not mistaken the toe box was even narrow.

My previous skate was the Flexlite 12, in my opinion and many others that is the best wide foot skate ever made, in fact it was the first skate that ever truly fit me off the shelf. After ruling out the U+ I tried on One 95's and ended up liking them better than anything else I tried. Now that I have owned them for about 3 months I am very happy with them. I had to bake them 2 times and skate on them about 4 times before I felt they were formed to my foot. Now the fit is like a glove.

I have a wide foot with a very thick ankle. The flexlite boot was the first ever that could even come close to getting a pencil to stay on my foot let alone balance on each side of the eyelets.

One95 is wider and deeper than U+.

I've had people look at my hobbit feet and ask me if I have a 6th toe growing on the side of my foot and I can't fit nicely into any bauer skates while the U+ fit me well. I guess we'll just have to leave it up to a difference in perception; pucker, CTK, you can stop parading around like you're opinion is fact now...

Talking about the Flexlite does nothing to support your argument for the One95. Just because they both fit you doesn't mean a thing. And this pencil anecdote of yours makes no sense, either.

This being said, I'm not sure either is a particularly wide skate. The One95 is a bit deeper and wider than traditional Bauers, but on the other hand, CCM skates have always had a more generous cut. I wouldn't suggest either until you've tried them on. If you really have extremely wide feet, though, my recommendation goes to the Easton Synergy line.

This is the problem with the U+. The out of the box, squareness of the boot. I think many people would change their opinion on the U+ if they got it baked and molded with a FIT machine.

Parading? Just trying to help a guy. I do not work at a store or have any affiliation to one brand. I just stood on a ruler, the widest part of my foot measures 4.75" wide. I wear a 8.5 ee nike bauer.

My opinion is based on owning over 30 pair of skates in my life. Having tried on way more than that on an annual basis trying to find a pair that fit my foot. I guess I should not have used the word opinion because it is more my experience that has made me believe the FLex 12 is a good wide boot.

As far as trying skates on of course that is the best route that is the best advice offered thus far.

I agree the pencil thing is ridiculous but my LHS uses it and I laugh when he pulls out the pencil because there is no way a pencil has ever even came close to resting on top of my foot. My ankle measures 4.75" deep. I am sure a custom is the way to go for me but I am not patient enough to wait for them.

Regarding U+ feel out of the box, I have to buy the skate and bake it before I can determine if it will fit right? Ridiculous, I hand over $700 and I am not assured they will fit me.....that boxy feeling is exactly why I did not buy U+ just to uncomfortable to buy feeling as shitty as they did prior to bake. You were right it felt as though there was NO way that skate would fit my skate.

Incidentally I also decided to go with the one95 because people from this board suggested it as a wide skate.

U+ is wider, as the boot is made to be wide and then compressed in with the FIT machine

Do they reall still use the FIT machine?

One 95s are wider 100%

I tried on both skates, and felt the one95 was the wider of the two. I could barely get my foot into the U+, but like others have said that may just be because it needed to be heated up. Based on first impressions out of the box, I would say the one95 is the wider of the two. With all that being said, I ended up with the Reebok 9k, it just fit my foot better.

Some shops (the ones better geared to establishing a relationship with the customer) will allow the customer to bake the skates if they are on the fence about how they fit. One bake will definitely change your mind on the fit of the U+, although it still might not fit you perfectly. Again not many shops will do this for you, but a couple users here on MSH have told us their stories about being allowed to bake and then decide.
