New Mission Helmet

Recommended Posts

I have noticed some players like Lee Stempniak and Anton Volchenkov around the league are wearing a "newer" version of the Mission Intake. I was wondering is Mission coming out with a new helmet for 2009. I have tried the Intake, and it's a great helmet. Oh yeah, I would also like to take this time to introduce myself to the ModSquadHockey community. I played Hockey when I was a young kid and then I stopped playing when I was 12 (for baseball) and about two years ago I started playing again. I'm glad to be back on the ice again.

welcome to the site. Yeah. guys like Hossa and Avery were wearing that in like preseason, but when the NBH/Mission merger hit a lot of guys switched to NBH helmets. for instance Hossa went to 9500 and avery went back to the old 4500.

rumor has it when the new helmet hits the general public it wll be labelled NME or something to that effect

I heard about the Bauer buying Mission/Itech Hockey. Yeah noticed Hossa, I can't wait for these to come out. I have been in the market for a new helmet. Thanks for info!

Nice looking helmet. Any idea when its planned for release?

I'm guessing never, since Bauer acquired Mission/Itech. You never know though, this helmet might go with their roller line.

No, I meant the Intake is going forward. The NME is not. NME has newer style foam and toolless adjustment

So the NME was just a prototype that they are not bringing to market?

And sorry but i was out of the loop. Why did NBH buy Mission? I thought Mission was doing fairly well. Also I heard that Bauer was bought out by another independent company, so does that mean that Nike and Bauer are going to be different entities again?

I'm not entirely sure but last February a independent investor bought Bauer from Nike. In September they bought Mission/Itech Hockey.

here is some links to some article if your interested:

I was just trying to clear it up for thehomez, he wanted to why it happened, underlying cause. But he already got his answer. I didn't know of Mission Itech Hockey's purchase by Bauer until about a month or so ago. (Yeah, I was under a rock for the past five and half months) I don't follow what the the manufactures do as far as business transactions and acquisitions . Just trying to be helpful.

Nike dropped Bauer and then shortly after Bauer aquired Mission/Itech. I have no idea if Nike are still going to be in the hockey buisness, hopefully someone else will know that answer.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but I believe Nike will still be doing International/College jerseys?

Thanks for the articles and clearing that up for me. I was able to find a good amount of info on the Nike dropping Bauer, which seems to be a good thing as the guy who purchased Bauer considers himself a skate guy. I was just kinda lost as to why Mission was picked up by Bauer considering I thought Mission was doing pretty well.

The only problem I see here is that with Nike leaving the business, and Bauer now owning Mission/Itech, that only leaves two/three major companies competing against each other RBK/CCM and Bauer. Not necessarily a good thing for the consumer... <_<
