Graf G700 Gloves

Recommended Posts

Anyone have these gloves? I have a pair, and I LOVE them. Extremely supple, protective and easy to break in, BUT they reek! I've had them cleaned twice at my LHS and they end up reeking again. Is this mainly an issue with the material? I've found that with most moisture management or bio stuff (including socks) this actually contributes to the smell. My leather gloves dont seem to smell this bad nor do my stock Bauer 4 rolls.

Have you given SaniSport a whirl? I believe they are ridiculously expensive (for cleaning that is, maybe $25-$30) but if the smell is that bad you might want to do it once every year or so.

Yeah, I've taken them to Gold Medal Sports in Chanhassen already... Some big, freezer like, stainless steel machine that will clean your gear for you. I may just buy another pair. Easily the most comfortable gloves for me and my style of play.

I've got the G700's and love them. I haven't had any issues w/ stink in them though. I've been spraying my equip. down with a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water when drying it out, I spray the insides of the gloves as best as possible so I don't know if that's the reason for no-stink or not.

how does the rubbing alcohol/water combo affect the material of the gloves and padding?

No effect at all so far, I only spray it inside the gloves not on the outside... the only padding I'm worried about and try to be careful around is the helmet padding, that stuff dries out pretty easily on it's own over time so I don't want to speed that process up at all, I'll usually do a quick spray and a wipe.

OT Spray is a miracle worker. It safe for all your gear and doesn't leave any kind of masking scent. Its the only thing I have found that actually kills the smell substantially. Not sure if you have a local place that carries them but www.hockeyservices.com is where I got mine. I usually spray mine then leave it in the grass (grass acts as a deodorizer too) to dry. By the way I'm wearing G700's and love em!

I have some of the Bauer 4 rolls and I wouldn't say they smell awful, but they make my hands smell really bad! Love them otherwise though

One of my guys had a pair. After using them once or twice a week for two months, they have started falling apart.

You don't recommend them Chadd? I always thought they where'nt too bad a glove.

Semi-jack here, but in line with the glove cleaning methods, are there any good remedies for tape residue on palms? Thanks.

They feel nice on the shelf but given the lack of durability I saw, there's no way I could suggest them to anyone. My guy could have had a bum pair, but I wouldn't want to take that bet. I had a pair of the original Graf 700 gloves and they were fantastic, but they haven't been the same for a long time.

I've beaten the hell out of my Graf 700s..Left them in the bag..let them sit in the garage etc..They've held up nicely, just stink really, really bad.

Should add that I've used Febreze on gloves, pants, pads and it seems to work fine.

Been there, done that. They smell like wet dog etc..

I live about 5 or 10 minutes from the rink, and make sure to open things up the second I arrive home. Plus it doesn't hurt to have a small fan to move fresh air over everything. So far, so good. But I'll keep my nose tuned in and see if any odors develop.

I have a bad habit of leaving my gear in the truck. My GF forbids me from bringing my gear into the house..Especially the shins and gloves. I've found that taking my stuff out and putting it in the cargo area of my SUV and letting them air out in frigid temps helps out, but only when cold.

Forget the girlfriend deal. Get a wife instead. They just don't want you to buy the stuff. But once you do then they resign themselves to the fact that it'll be in the house, lol.

Might have to get a bigger place too. My 23 month old son is already a gear whore. Easton gloves, Vapor Skates and roughly 5-6 sticks..including 2 of those flimsy Mylec sticks that come with his knee hockey set. I'll probably buy a place with a larger garage and a heated storage space for my gear.

At the LHS i work at we have one of the Sani sport machines. Their main focus is to get rid of the bacteria in the equipment, but most people use it for the smell. The machine does not work wonders for the smell, but doesn't do a bad job.

My skates smelt really bad, and I spoke to one of the more experienced employees at the shop and he said that it takes about two cycles to get rid of the smell, providing you use the spray that they include.
