Custom Wood Blades

Recommended Posts

Just checking to see where everyone gets their custom wood blades made, I am looking to put in an order. I was about to place an order with Legend but heard of the problems they have been having lately, also can I get prices and the best places to place an order ? I want to make some iginla clone wood blades.

Don't go through Legend!! To put it mildly, they absolutely suck from top to bottom.

I placed an order in May and I still don't have my blades! I was told two weeks when I ordered but they took two months to get here and when they did, they were the wrong curve and one was falling apart. I sent them an email about it and they ignored me for a week until I threatened to take action against them. They told me to return the blades collect and they would replace them. I sent them back and they let the package sit in customs for 10 days before they processed the paper work and they refused the package twice before they accepted it. This was back in August. I still don't have my blades and they are ignoring my emails now. I am considering my options as to the best way to handle this from here.

Definitely don't order from them.

Sherwoods are easier to get for sure. Also, KOHO's are great. I've seen some custom ones floating around and they're stiff for wood blades and have a abs bottom.

I had a couple of Steve Sullivans pro Kohos they were decent. I just picked up a couple of Koho pro stock wood sticks with teh same blade.

I dont think that they are ignoring you because I sent them a message and it took almost two weeks for them to respond and yet they still havent answered my question. So far it has been a month since they have responded.

So you think not answering you question after 2 weeks is okay? How much effort does it take to answer an email? Not picking on you or anything but you are the one paying the money and if they are too busy to be bothered with you then it's time to go somewhere else. Most companies I've dealt with bend over backwards to help out their customers. These guys seem to go out of their way to provide as little as possible.

I'm pretty sure they are messing with me now. They tried to tell me that they never got the package I sent back and then stopped responding to me after I gave them the tracking info saying who signed for it. They've been totally unhelpful and pretty much ignorant about the whole deal even though they made the mistake and I was very patient with them for the first month and a half.

Even if they aren't ignoring me, 4 months after I placed my order and they charged my credit card I still don't have the blades I ordered. I'd say that's pretty bad customer service.

I would feel much better telling someone on here to deal directly with a manufacturer then telling them to try out these idiots.

If you're upset, cancel the order, refuse the credit card charge and go somewhere else.

No doubt but this sort of thing seems to be the norm with them now so I would hate to see someone else here go through the same thing.

I'm going to wait a little longer since I really want to see how the blades actually turn out but my original plan was to get 3 for the summer and if I liked them, order a stockpile of 20 or so for the winter but they lost that business now.

For what its worth, I'll pass slong my experience with Legend (3 custom orders all trying to hit the same target).

1. When they get everything right, they make a fantastic blade.

2. They get things wrong more frequently than what seems reasonable.

I had them duplicating a re-curved (more heel, less loft) Sherwood 950 Spezza that I shaved down to a short hosel, thin tenon blade. It took them 4 iterations (2.5 of which I paid for) to get it right, but the result is great. By the way if anyone wants any tapered short hosel blades that look like a cross between a Modano and an Iginla, I've got 'em cheap!!

No doubt about it, Legend sucks for customer service and communication. I ordered blades from them and it took two months. They double charged me for them and it took 4 months to get the charges reversed. The blades were nice (albeit wrong - they gave me long hosel and non-tapered tenon even though I specifically requested them) after I filed them a bit.

My next order will be through TPS but I doubt they will be able to come close from a price standpoint.

Does anyone know if Sherwood does custom tapered blades?

for what its worth: I asked one of the local shops who does alot of Sherwood business (a lot of SOP stuff in addition to normal retail) to check with the Sherwood rep. about custom short hosel/tapered blades. The shop manager got back to me and said that the rep. told him that Sherwood would not do custom short/tapered blades due to structural integrity reasons. I asked another local shop the same question and they came back with a simple no.

ill be honest my christian blades are the best custom job ive had yet and ive had both legend and tps. the legend was the worst as they screwed up the order a few times, and the tps were fairly consistent with the pattern being right and the blades were pretty light, but the christian blades im using right now are the lightest blades ive ever used including composite, have very good feel and are ridiculously stiff for a wood blade. you can get em with or without the standard weave that christian sticks are known for, but you better get it if you get these, its just not a christian without it lol. definately get these very fair pricing and all the blades i have received have been curved perfectly.

A kid who I referred Legend to told me today that their prices have gone up to $30 a blade and that they do not have any more deals (buy 6, get 4 free).

I had a great experience with legend, fairly fast, answered all e-mails and absoloutley love the blades.

Ya, I've heard two sides of that company. I've heard there great and that they suck, because of that I was scared to go with them, but it TPS's prices are outragous then I guess I'll take the chance.
