Hey guys,

It seems that I go through sticks, especially blades, like nothing.

So I am wondering what you would recommend I get for a shaft.

The Only thing is that it has to be grip. I don't really have a preference but I have only ever used Easton sticks. I dont really like bauer sticks as the grip tends to peel off, or at least it does on the vapors.

So, anybody got any suggestions?

Also, what is a tapered shaft? Do you need a

Special blade to fit?

tapered shafts need tapered blades and more closely replicate a ops

i'm partial to easton's z-bubble/stealth s15 with a wood blade as far a 2pc's go

I recently picked up an Easton Synthesis Grip (yellow one) and threw a Synthesis blade in it, and it is easily my favourite stick I've ever used. I've used a bunch of different OPS and a bunch of shaft/blade combos both standard and tapered, and this one is my favourite.

I have used Easton shafts before the Synthesis as well, like the Ultra-Lite and ZBubble, and have always found the Easton shafts to perform better then other brands. The only shaft I've tried that I thought competed with Easton was the CCM V10 Catapult tapered shaft.

So my opinion is go with something Easton and a nice solid blade and you should be pretty happy.

Easton Ultra lite, i've been blasting slappers on this things for months and it's already been through three owners! It's showing no signs of slowing down and has a pretty great feel considering I'm using the crappiest of the crappy easton blades, curved to all heck with bubbles and wear and everything and I can still stick handle like an almost semi-pro.

Other than that, I would try Warrior Ak-27, once I stop being self-unemployed that'll be my first purchase...

My white Ultra Lite is still going strong too, and I recently picked up the Synergy ST shaft to see if it plays like my Ultra Lite. The ST is super solid, and IMO has better balance than the AK27, which I broke two of in less than 4 months.

really? that's weird I've never broken a carbon shaft before, 'specially a two piece is that a common occurrence with the ak27? I thought that was a good as gold in terms of dependability, maybe I'll just try and hunt down some more ultra lites cause they seem to fit my game pretty well, is the ST a tapered shaft of standard?

The AK27 seems to be notorious for snapping about 4-5 inches above where the blade's tenon sits inside the shaft. Both of mine broke in the same place, as have most of the broken AK27s I've seen.

As Rustyhole said, the ST shaft fits standard blades, but unlike the Ultra Lite, it doesn't come with a wooden plug for extra length. It just comes longer, so you may want to consider going down a flex if you pick one up.

I've been a Z-bubble/Easton guy forever - and I just picked up a 2009 Warrior Dolomite shaft/HD blade combo, and it is by FAR, the best stick for my game that I have ever used.

Which is funny, because I stayed away from Warrior gear intentionally until now....

I'll be ordering another shaft+blade and a couple extra blades next week. I've been 100% sold on their product.

I have always had Easton shaft and blade combo's, and bought a pro stock Dolomite tapered shaft and mission blade combo and hated it... used it 3 times and sold it. Now I'm using an S11 OPS but am looking to get myself a Bubble or UL as a backup.

I have pretty much decided to get a warrior dolomite 2.

The only thing is that I would like to put a warrior blade on it but I don't know which warrior curve is like eastons forsberg or modano.

I looked at some of the patters but they all look too open and curved for me.

just having read your first post, if you're going through loads of blades switch to warrior. certainly the old ones (I cant speak for the brand new HD foam or spyne ones) are good, durable blades.

To be fair, a shaft is a shaft. Its well documented that Warrior, Easton and most probably more manufacturers havn't changed their shafts in a long time now. I'm sure ive read it on here that the Dolomite shaft is little different from the Inno 1100 which was available ~10 years ago (correct me if im wrong!).

If I was you I'd pick a shaft of your liking and go with Dolomite blades. Personally I like the RBK 7K shaft but wouldnt dare use the matching blades to go with it. If you're going to go with the Warrior blades you might as well pick that shaft as well, but if you're very particular with your grip, it could be important to note the Warrior nipple grip will peel.

I just bought the 09 dolo shaft and hd blade. I have only used easton in the past, and i love the dolo. But just wondering why the warrior tapered blades are longer than easton tapered blades. Can you still put an easton blade in a dolo shaft? And will the length difference affect the kickpoint of the warrior?

That's exactly why I would grab an ultra-lite or its derivative, and if they are making that shaft with the same materials but now or in recent past (1-2 years) that seems like a better solution than buying another shaft that just doesn't cut the mustard but looks real cool. I like to know things have a history of dependability, that the kinks are worked out (ie dependability issues, shitty feel/flex). That being said, the ST is ridiculously priced for what it is, that's why I wouldn't buy one unless the person was also in on the sly and realized that its the same damn shaft they've been selling us for a decade and gives me a screaming deal. Maybe someone in south of the border can help all us ultra lite fanatics with smuggled shafts, hidden in bales of cocaine.

Easton Ultralites have been my shaft of choice for a while, which is why I stockpiled a sh!tload some time ago. I'm still using my first one, and it looks brand new (minus a few paint chips) even though i've blocked shots, smashed myself into the boards on numerous occasions. I've since moved to using a mission Ti Pro OPS, and need to clear some of these stockpiled shafts...

Will a easton tapered blade fit into a warrior tapered shaft?

Specifically synergy 2 blade and a dolomite

as long as it isn't intermediate, yes. However most people far prefer the feel of the warrior blades to the easton blades

Are people with Easton shafts still having issues with Warrior blades? Used to be that for some reason they'd break at the end more than usual if they had Warrior blades in there.

cant see the point in that at all, unless you've got the easton blade lying around doing nothing.

fair enough i can understand dolomite blade in an easton shaft, but easton blades are garbage..

personally i find easton blades to have the best feel and response, of course durability has been an issue occasionally. it doesnt mean that performance wise they are garbage
