Slimmer Gloves?

Recommended Posts

I currently have a pair of Warrior Franchises in 13" narrow. They aren't narrow enough. Taking my hand off my stick too quickly, and they fall off. Did some searching, but seen too many contradictions between threads to come up with a conclusion. The length of my glove is perfect, just too loose.

So... recommend me a glove! Please note - selection in Ontario isn't as great as it is on the internet. One glove I was looking at were the X72i's, but some people say that its slimmer, some say that the MB11 is slimmer.

Just go to Pro Hockey Life. Their store is huge and they have so much selection.

You can try on so many different gloves there to find the one that fits you best, I doubt that you wont be able to find one there.

I'm not sure where in Ontario you are, but their website is www.prohockeylife.com, just check for a location near you.

Yeah, pro-hockey life is like a high-end department store, but all hockey! Very impressive. Bigger and better than Giant or Monkey's warehouse stores in California.

But on another note, instead of a slimmer glove, if you're having problems letting go of the stick to soon, what about getting a grip stick, or a thicker stick? Are you using grip now? Are you using a "pro-radius" shaft? etc..

Been to pro hockey life, checked out a few gloves, didn't find anything I really really liked in terms of fit, mobility and comfort. I am using a sticks with either grip, or candy-cane taped down the shaft. My problem is when i let go to grab a puck in the air or something, the glove doesn't react as fast as my hand because its so loose, and the fingers end up getting caught up on the stick, causing me to drop the glove.

I dont think your problem is the narrowness of the glove, i think its more of the volume.

What im picking up is that there is too much volume in the glove and youre looking for a tigher-to-the-hand glove.

If so, the Supreme line is a good idea, and maybe try out the Easton Stealth line.

I can vouch for the Supreme line being tighter. I had a similar problem as you with some Vapors. I switched to Supreme 50's about a quarter of the way into my season and never had that problem again!

One90 gloves. Assumedly the One95s when those come out too.

Bingo. One90s are awesome. Love mine. And as a bonus they'll be on sale soon with the new Supreme line coming out (some places already do have them on sale I believe).

I have smaller hands and had the same problem with my Bauer 4Rolls. I bought the TPS R8 Lite and I love them. Worth a look. Also might like the Mission 130 Fuel. Discontinued but a sweet glove.

You also might want to try the Reebok 6k(08) or 6.0.6(09) fitlite gloves. I found these to be a very low volume or tight fitting glove. Also a very flexable glove.

Less volume than an X72i? (if so, it'd save me from a trip to another store to try them on)

+1

-- in addition to that, I have problems with the flexibility of gloves as well as the volume. I'm using a pair of RBK 3k's right now because I can move my hands easier with them, they are more flexible and lighter. Try a pair of cheapies out and you'll be surprised

Haha, I own a pair of CCM V02's. Volume is great, but it hurts my knuckles like hell. Not much flexability in them.

When you tried on the X72's, did they have the extra padding in the backroll? They should come with two different thickness pads you can swap into them to change the fit.

Never tried them on. I guess thats something I should look for when I go this weekend. Thanks for the tip!

Wow! Try the 3k's and tell me what you think - I was surprised when I tried them on and how much I liked them.

They stopped including the extra foam a long time ago. The x72s will be wider in the hand but slightly tighter in the fingers. PPF will be about the same fit as the Franchise narrow, slightly longer fingers on the Warriors.

Only thing all around tighter would be the Supreme series. Although CCM/RBK(last years) will also be tighter fitting, depending on what exactly he's looking for.

I read somewhere that Eagle will send extra padding for free if you request it?

So did they stop including the extra foam for just retail store gloves? Mine came with it, but I bought them online. Or did I just have a set that was in stock before they stopped supplying it?

The RBK 6k's that I tried on were pretty tight as well. The 14's seemed more like 13's, but they felt really nice on my hands.

So the list is:

Eagle X72i

NikeBauer Supreme 90

NikeBauer Vapor XXXX

RBK 6K

TPS R8

Any more? Just in case I run into an idiot of a sales rep, I'll know what to look for/won't waste my time.

Call them and ask. There customer service is excellent. They are all really nice and friendly.

I talked to them a few times when I had a problem with my Royale gloves. They replaced them for me even though I didn't have a receipt (xmas present from my wife and she lost it)
