Which two piece setup do I go with?

Recommended Posts

Juts wondering which of the two setups im looking at I should go with.

Option 1: New AK-27 shaft (black/white/gray) with a standard Innovative blade. (around $150)

or

Option 2: Pro stock warrior dolomite tapered shaft and a tapered Innovative blade. (around $110)

What do you guys think?

The two shafts are completely different in their constriction.

The AK shaft has regular shaft dimensions, meaning you wont have the low kickpoint that you get from a OPS. The stick will flex where you put your bottom hand.

The Dolo shaft will give you the low kickpoint, like a OPS. It basically is their dolomite OPS without the fused blade in it.

Now, in terms of looks. Definitely the new AK, its gorgeous.

I love my AK27 shaft with Kovalev blade. Favour it over my One90 pro stock and Warrior Dolo Spyne.

I just got the new AK 27 shaft (grip version, i.e., black, silver, white) on Saturday. Haven't used it as of yet as I'm waiting for some standard blades to arrive. I have no idea how it will perform, but it's such a good looking shaft I had to pick one up. I will say that I really like the crushed velvet grip. FYI, I believe the non-grip version is has red lettering.

This is the guy I got it from off ebay in case anyone is interested. Got it in three days.

If you favor wrist shots and snap shots go with the dolomite, if you favor slappers go with the ak27

Not true at all.

Tapered all the way. Gives a much snappier feel. Especially if you are talking Pro Stock Dolos from Hockeyworld.

I bought one of those the other day, and went back and got 2 more just incase one breaks down the road. I'll never go back.

I have two pro stock tapered dolomites and one AK27. I love my tapered shafts combined with a warrior or Inno blade (best value at $29.99 and being virtually the same as the more expensive warrior blades). I don't use my AK27 too much as the stick just looks way to good to use. It really comes down to what feels the best in your hands. I prefer the taapered shafts because they feel the same as a one peice but are more versatile.

1 more comment on the pro stocks. The paint does chip off of them very easily. My main shaft looks pretty beat up because the decals fall off very easily but still performs great. The stick will just look like its been used all year after a couple of uses.
