lotus 2 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 You must shoot awfully high Lotus hahWas all that duck hunt on NES as a kid....can't change old habits =] hahaGoalie on my team tells me I have the 2nd or 3rd hardest shot on the team, which is cool because I'm definitely the smallest. All I need to do is get it to hit the net and here I come powerplay!!

lotus 2 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 I'd like to attribute my high shots to the curve....which is a rather large open mid-toe....but I hit the net fine with decent power when I focus more on hitting the net than letting the shot go. I hit some dude in the chest in open hockey on friday, he wasn't happy. Whatever though haha....I stepped into the shot, he stood there with his legs closed. Had more than enough time to get out of the way if he didn't want to take one. It was only about half power anyway, I wasn't going to let it go as hard as I can against some kid goalie, but I couldn't resist it when you come off the bench and into the play and the second you cross the blue line, the puck just pops out into the high slot....waiting for you...hah
gxc999 7 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 Can we all stop the up high slap shots in open hockey? C'mon guys, there's no need to try and impress anyone. A friend of mine who played at a competitive level, (D-I school in the Minn/Dakota area), also commented on that. He said nobody did it back home, but that it happened all the time in Florida and was mystified...
Fletch 219 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 I got hit in a roller game two weeks ago, right on the inside of the right thigh. I still have a bruise the size of a pancake there....purple, green, red, yellow....it's quite impressive. It looks like art.

In a real game, in his position, I go down to block it. In open hockey - I get the hell out of the way.

fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 Got hit last week, twice in the same spot about 4 inches above the ankle. No bruising, just a little sore.Speaking of bruises, one of the chicks in the league fell during a game a couple of weeks back and had a HUGE bruise on her ass... she was showing it off to everyone before the game last week... and the only person who whipped the camera phone out to take a pic was another chick... the rest of the guys were just smiling and enjoying the show. epstud74 24 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 Yeah, I've taken slap shots to the front of the pads before..and a few times to the back of the calf, but just never in the small area behind my knee. Just one of those fluke things, but it is still swollen.
lotus 2 Report post Posted March 30, 2009 When I think about it, that actually sounds remarkably painful. I took a really hard one to the back of the leg once but my whole leg instantly went numb. When I regained feeling it sucked, a lot. But at least the initial "I'm going to die" feeling wasn't there :) Never took one at the back of the knee though.... He'll avoid defense/back checking like it's the plague and only make an attempt at coming away from the far blue line if he thinks he has a shot at a breakaway. LOVE that guy. He's so awesome. The problem was I was stuck in the d zone trying to chase people around.
