Your First goal

Recommended Posts

Just a topic for us all to discuss our first goals that we ever scored in hockey. Just something to have a bit of fun with, I'm in class right now but, I will share my story later on when I go home (god bless prof. development days) . Sorry if this has already been done.

alright, here's mine. it probably sounds really weird to some of you guys that have been playing since you were small but, oh well.

I've been in love with hockey since I was 8 or 9 but, our family didn't exactly make a whole lot of money so my parents couldn't afford to put me in hockey. So I decided that I would learn how to skate anyway... so I chugged away at that for a few years, then last year I decided that I would begin to officiate hockey. Then during the off season I got a job at mcdonalds and decided that I would save up and buy some cheaper gear for what I thought would just be some open hockey and pickup with a few of the by's. Then the beginning of the season came and the local AA team was struggling to ice a team. So I had a few buddies that were playing and they asked me to come out for a few practices. So I figured what the hell, should help me get into shape so I did it.. then next thing I knew I was traveling 3 hours for a tournament... so the games came and went and I just parked my ass in front of the net and relished in this role. I have always been a "shit disturber" type of guy so it transfered to playing for sure... I've got the marks and the lack of teeth to prove it ;) . So We were in our third tournament of the year and we were playing our second biggest rival and the first shift we got scored on. Coach then sends our line out, the other team is attacking and I make a diving shot block and the puck squirts to my center man, then I somehow get up and get down the ice to catch up with him and we have a 2 on 2 I go straight to the net and he goes to shoot but, something happens and the puck squirts right to me on the side of the net and all I have to do is tap it in. As soon as I get the puck on my stick I think.. "oh shit don't mess this up" and as soon as I saw it go near the line my arms were up in the air and I was skating faster then I ever had before in my life lol. I did about 50 fist pumps across the ice surface and then fly infront of the bench and give everyone high fives. I know it sounds retarted, but I was so happy that I scored a goal. I never thought I would ever play a game of hockey let alone score a goal. Trust me.. the other team did a good job of telling me what they thought of it :P

It was my first season actually 'playing' (ie not just sitting on the bench) and i was on the first line playing for Haringey u14s against Streatham u14s, the game was tied 2-2 with about 5 minutes left. I let a slapshot go from the point and the goalie got his pad to it but it wasnt enough and it deflcted off his pad top shelf. I went nuts! It was the first game Dad came to see me play and i skated straight over to the plexi where he was stood and jumped into it and banged the glass, ill never the proud look on his face. Since then ive scored every game he's seen me play (only one other time). we went on to win 4-2.

I don't remember my first goal as a kid. It was way too long ago.

About 9 years ago, though, I started beer league after being off the ice since 1988. The skating came back to me pretty quickly, but my hands were stone. I'd had a couple breaks but no finish around the net.

My first goal was off a faceoff to the goalie's left. I'm a LH shot so I turned my bottom hand over to try to pull the puck back to the point on the drop. Of course, that didn't go according to plan, but the puck stopped dead about 2 feet behind the opposing centre. I stepped past him and lunged at the puck with my bottom hand still turned over. It ended up top shelf over the goalie's shoulder.

I'm still impressed that it went in. I could take that shot 50 more times and I don't think I'd score on it.

First goal, I'd been playing since I was a mite, I think I was in squirts, I was the biggest and oldest on the team, and slowest and least skilled. I actually disliked playing and hated sports as a kid, so I was a fourth line winger. My only job was to hit everything that moved and try and stay onside.

We were playing against a team and they pulled their goalie, I think I hit a kid at center ice, and somebody tried to clear the puck and it smacked off my cage. For some reason everyone stopped and looked at me like I was hurt, but the puck dropped to my feet and I skated it for the empty net goal.

That was literally the only goal I scored in youth hockey.

My first goal happened just last season...and I'm 22. Good news is I've played goalie until a year ago and this was my first goal outside of drop in. Much to my surprise i got a wicked slap shot off from the point, managed to squeeze it through traffic right at the perfect height. The goalie went down and it sailed right between his glove and leg pad. To make it even better it was the game winning goal for our amazing 2-8 season, lol.

Mine was on December 17, 1995 (second year tyke, 7 years old). I played for a local team and we were against one of the winter clubs, who always won every game by a huge score. I don't remember much else other then that, but my mom never lets me forget the date because 17 was my number. I wore 17 for 10 seasons, didn't get it for 2, and now thankfully have it back again. Maybe now I'll start scoring again....

It was my second year of Mite's, I was 6. We were in the second period, up a couple goals, I was in front, got a pass from behind the net and one timed it in. My teammates were pretty much the same from the year before so they knew it was my first goal and mobbed me. I still have the puck around here somewhere.

Don't remember my first goal as a youth...too long ago. My first goal in high school was first game my freshman year on JV. I played D that year but we were short on FWDs due to illness so the varsity coach asked me to play LW. He gave me the rah rah we think you'd be a good FWD talk and I sort of blew it off. Midway through the first period I got a nice feed at center ice and somehow got a breakaway (not sure how since I was and continue to be SLOW). Anyway, went in, no deek, straight five hole...nice. We did win like 5-2 BTW. The next season I was moved to wing where I still prefer to play. Some coaches just know what they're talking about I guess. :D

I never played youth hockey, so my first goal came a couple of years ago during my first (and so far only) season of organized hockey. March 11th, 2007. I remember the day really well because my friend and I were supposed to go to Rochester, NY that weekend but plans fell through, so on we went to my hockey game instead. Beforehand, we were playing bubble hockey in the rink lobby and somehow I was beating the pants off my friend, and I commented to him: "Trust me, this is the only time I'm ever going to score a goal."

Lo and behold, halfway through the first, my teammate passes to me from behind the net and somehow, I got my stick on it and, half in a panic (my first season, after all) just fired that sucker right at the net. It went straight through their three defensemen (the opposition was playing without a goalie), and slid into the net. I was still looking for the rebound even after the ref blew the whistle, because I couldn't believe that it'd actually gone in. I still have the puck.

Like others in this thread, I never played youth hockey either, and started in a league 2 days after my 18th birthday on a C league team with my Dad.

Anyway, the first goal I scored was the least elegant of any goal I've scored. There was a shot on net from a sharp angle below the right circle, It hit the goalie, filtered through between his legs, it was bouncing around with him and a bunch of sticks, and I slammed it in.

The better memory for me was my first (and to date only) hat trick. I had three, could have had four when the goalie flubbed a pass when he came out to play when I was killing a penalty. I already had three and that year they capped everybody at three goals in a game, so instead of shooting it into the vacated net I skated it into the corner and killed time.

I've only been playing for about 5 months and my first (and only) goal came in the second to the last game of our season.

Our best defenseman picked the puck up behind our own net, skated it through everyone all the way up ice, into the offensive zone, took it behind their net, came around the other side, and passed the puck to me in the slot. I was wide open in the slot (probably because I suck compared with everyone else out there, so no one bothered to cover me) and I put it in the far side of the net. I'm still not sure if I actually shot the puck or if I just had my stick on the ice and it deflected in. I actually didn't celebrate at all, I was too stunned to believe I actually scored a goal, so I just stopped and stared at the puck in the back of the net for a moment. Then I realized one of my linemates was coming to jump on me (our line hadn't scored a goal all season and we'd been completely outclassed by all the other teams) so I had to brace myself to keep from being knocked over.

hahahaha. my first house league goal was in the championship game. i was on a 2 on 0 with the best kid on my team we get past the hash marks and he passes it to me i shank it off the post. and hits the goalie. but the back check defensemen caught his edge and pushes the goalie into the net and the ref called a goal.

as for Highschool hockey. it was a 9-1 game and i though i would have some fun shooting at the net. i had the puck and decided to rush the puck from my own end took a slap shot from there blue line between the defensemen's legs and off the goalies pad up to the topshelf. Just before that my coach told us not to score to let the Seniors a chance to score. i ended the game. during the hand shakes i usually tap the goalie on the chest and whisper in their ear good game (like the players do during playoffs) after i did that i notice it was a girl goalie and her boyfriend was in the stands. i felt like an a**hole not only ruining the night for the sr.s of the team but scoreing on her to end the game and pretty much touching her chest lol

Funny I was just looking at some old pictures at my parents house the other day and my first goal was one of them! I was 6 and playing in the local town league... There wasnt a whole ton of passing at that age mostly a kid would get the puck and try and skate it in and most times he would loose it.. It was the third period and I was posted at the corner of the goal and I received a pass and slapped it in 5 hole and there it was my first goal ever! Its funy in looking at the serious of pictures my Dad took you would have thought I won game 7 or something I was so excited all you could see was an ear to ear smile under my old Cooper cage..

December 1975, not sure of the date. Team - Lake Region Mites - Freeway outdoor rink. First year mites first game. I was digging in the corner and won the puck I turned to throw it out front it hits the goalies skate and goes in.

Now on to teh amusing part of this story we lost by like 16 goals, EVERY shot on our team went in the net. Now I have read that some of you say your first goal was too long ago to remember. IF my goal was not attached to the following incident I would have probably forgotten mine too. So I am in the warming house, and the goalie is sitting next to me in tears. The kid never moved once after about the 2 minute mark in the first period. Literally EVERY shot went in the net, the kid was like a statue and he would not tell anyone why during the game. So here is the kid sitting next to me, his dad asking him why he didn't move. Finally he says "dad I was afraid I would get electrocuted if I would have moved", dad says "why". Kid, "I wet my pants and I am wearing electric long johns"

I will never forget that moment as long as I live.

Wow I remember mine. I had been playing pickup for a while and never got close to the net, I had been training with kids around the ages of 10, whilst I was 25 or so (cant remember my age). It was an inline hockey tournament that I had moved into in a "Masters/Novices" group. Puck was in our defensive end, and got passed to a defender, who I rushed and manages to tip the puck away from and have it move in the same direction that I was going. Just kept rushing down the floor after it, picked it up at the hash marks, curved towards the net, closed my eyes (yes I closed my eyes) and shot it. All along the ground (I was told my eyes were still closed), then I heard a "ping" and a screaming crowd. The Puck went IN!

I remember going a little insane after this time, probably justifabily so because it was the only goal we got the first 2 games we played (where other teams got double figures, we were novices!).

Maybe I should start closing my eyes again, get that shooting % up :D

ok, my first goal was a wrist shot top shelf from the worst angle ever. I was about to fall and ripped one above the goalie's blocker. went on to score 29 goals in 15 next games

In true defenseman style, I came in late to a play and put in a tap in garbage goal that nobody could miss. That is probably about one of a twenty career goals i've ever scored. Luckily I play defense and it is overlooked, that I find the back of the net less than most goons.

I scored 2 times in my first mite game. It was a beauty game for me, and it took me nearly 8 years until I tallied my next one (I had a hiatus in goal for a while, lol).
