Why did the True1 fail?

Recommended Posts

With all the hype and anticipation surrounding the Innovative True1's release over a year ago, what has happened? I can only think of 1 NHL player (Gary Roberts) who I saw using one; I never see them on Ebay; Peranis is practically giving them away; All the hype surrounding the True One-Piece and you rarely see them mentioned on the board and rarely ever see them on the local ice. Does anybody have an answer?

Easton is claiming the Stealth is manufactured using a "new" patent pending uni-mold manufacturing process. Does that make the Stealth a True one-piece as well?

When the subject has been brought up, I have raved about mine. I love them. When I saw that Peranis was "practically giving them away," right about the time we were being hit with the news that Inno was going to be leaving the retail market, I jumped and bought four. Since then (about early June I want to say...) one has broken (slash) after a summer of being on the ice at least four or five days/nights a week. The three left are in great shape; the blades haven't lost any stiffness, and the shafs dont feel to be weakening much, if at-all. Shooting is better than expected when I first got the sticks and the feel is far beyond any other OPS I have tried (that includes Si-Core). Probably the best sticks I have ever had in my hands.

Hull used one for a while too didn't he? Or he was using a stick which seemed to have the same graphics as Roberts. Mogilny used one either the past year or two years ago. Innovative stuff is generally hard to come by and their OPS seem even harder. With 3 OPS on the market 2 of those having matching tapered and standard shafts you won't see the True-1 as much. I still haven't been able to try one out, but I would definately like to.

The information i recieved from innovative was, that the true one was to light and not durable enough. They recieved so many returns on the stick they pulled it to further test and tweek the design. Last i heard it was going to be re-released but i don't know when.

I was at the ACC not too long ago and they had a couple of Roberts' "True 1s" for sale. Not sure what the stick really was, but I can tell you it had a visible fuse point. That said, I've owned two True 1s. Overall, I like the weight and balance, just not the biggest fan of the blades. My 300 flex cracked on top of the toe very early on. My 260 flex is still in tact, but I don't find the blade stiff enough.

I also found the blade to be weak. I loved the stick, but the blade folded in half on a faceoff. Could have been previously weakened, I guess. I would get another one, when the shaft of this one dies ( put in a Inno blade ).

I recently got the new graphic version. Im not sure if its a differnt stick or not, but I have used it a few times so far, and i love it. However, I do get the "feeling" that it may break soon. I dunno. I'll keep you updated.
