Which Hockey pants have good spinal protection?

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for new ice hockey pants and im thinking about getting the ccm vector 6 pants. Im wondering if there are any pants out there that have good spinal protection and arent that long because i have rbk 4k shinguards and they are a little too big on me and they push up into my old pants which make it uncomfortable to skate. Im a size 32-34, 6'1", and weigh 180 lbs.

I have the older CCM Tacks. Good protection and lightweight., and not too long. If you're pretty skinny stay clear of the Rbk's. Im 6"1 also and weigh 155ish, and I couldnt find a Rbk pant that fit my waist and height

i have an older pair of ccm tacks too and i really liked them the only problem is they were a junior XL and its hard to skate with such big shin guards because the bottom always pushes down into my foot. I also have Mission pants but they are too big on me i had to sow them up to make them smaller but they still slip off.

I haven't tried on pants in years because i always had the same ones. I use Nike and it protects as good as possible so i would check out the NB line, because if you are looking for good spinal these would have it.

The Nike's are before they bought out Bauer, but they are the Nike Ignite 2. I would just say go down to the LHS and just see the way each are built. Mine have a plastic piece going from below the tailbone up as high as the pants go.

Ditch the current shin pads for shin pads that fit. If you buy shorter pants then you're going to have a gap in protection everytime that you bend your knee. Not a place you want exposed.

CCM Vector 8 or 10 offer great protection all over.

Easton S-7 or S17's are very good as well.
