cptjeff 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 Half a scoop of Gatorade in a quart of water. So, diluted Gatorade. And get the powder. $10 for a giant can that lasts forever.or 24 591ml bottles for $15 at costco. And the $10 can makes six gallons, which is about 50% more for 50% less money.the 24 pack isn't diluted, so you're not comparing apples to apples. even if i did a half and half dilution with water, i'd get more than 6 gallons (closer to 7.5) out of the case.... and i don't even have to stir!!!!oh, and $10 is 33 percent less than $15, not 50.That's the amount you get if you make it to the proper strength, right off the can. Diluted you get twice as much as that. As for the percentages, the bottles cost 50% more but the can of powder costs 33% less. I got that mixed up, sorry. It's just a fact that having the Gatorade in liquid form has a higher cost due to shipping weight and volume. You're also using costco prices, which are rock bottom, I'm using normal grocery store prices that I don't have to pay for a membership to get.

Big Glove Save 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2009 I used to divide up a 32 ounce bottle of Gatorade into two bottles and lay them at an angle in the freezer so about half of one side is frozen. Then fill it with water just before the game. The body absorbs cold liquid easier I have read and the frozen Gatorade acts to keep the water cool with slowly melting in with the water. I remember the first time I showed up using that trick. A teammate asked for a sip of my gin and juice and yelled in a flabergasted tone, "How did you get it to freeze on one side?!" Today, I still do the same trick except I drink just water from one of three bottled water containers I have saved over the years, taking small sips throughout play. I have a second larger bottle that I let freeze a little fuller then fill with water to drink after the game for the drive home so my vision does not get too blurry and some religious fanatical deer ambushes me suddenly. dsjunior1388 81 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 8 oz sugar free red bull 30 minutes before a game.I gulp down water during a game, probably too much. After the game I usually stop at a gas station for chocolate milk. Read in sport illustrated that it replaces nutrients lost in sweat better than sports drinks.
cptjeff 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 You may have misread that. It won't replace electrolytes nearly as well, but it's a really good post workout drink becuase of the protein and vitamins, which helps you recover and build muscle. Gatorade is still better for getting your salts though.
eric42434224 1 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 I drink water. Everything else I tried seems to leave a film, or an aftertaste, or dries out my mouth....more than water at least. I always have a small bottle of Gatorade in the locker room afterward as it is supposed to replace electrolytes.

Gatorade is still better for getting your salts though.that was probably it. I like the chocolate milk because it's more substantial than gatorade, fills me up more and I don't end up stopping for fast food or something afterward. Plus it's delicious,
n3ss 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 I drink well water.I used to go to a drop in where some guy in a Yzerman jersey would suck down a 2-liter of Mt. Dew in an hour... beaverpower 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 I just switched from Gatorade to coconut water and it works great. Not really sweet and has all the electrolytes and as much potassium as 2 bananas. I add a 12 oz single serving (comes in a juice box type container) to my water during every game. They have started selling it more places besides whole foods, like Ralphs and other grocery stores. reyno2ac 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 I drink watered down G2 or Powerade Zero. Plain water doesn't do enough for me because I'm hypoglycemic and I need to keep my sugar/carb intake at a certain point, especially when working out. Drinking straight up gatorade or powerade makes me sick while working out.
