new dolomite shaft + easton blades

Recommended Posts

I've had 2 piece combos for about 4 years. Never before have i had so much problem putting a blade into a shaft before. I have a tapered blade that i took out of an older warrior shaft, and tried to put it into a newly purchased dolomite shaft. I can get the blade in with about 2 inches to go before it just gets stuck.

A few questions I guess:

- Anyone else having issues with this?

- I thought that tapered systems were interchangeable, but now I'm thinking dolomite shafts will only fit warrior blades. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I'm making sure not to over heat the glue, but sometimes it overheats because I've been working on it for so long. :(

I'm pretty sure it'll fit eventually, but my back and hands are starting to hurt from trying to force the blade into the shaft. In the past, they would just slide right in.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that the blade and shaft are similar sizes; ie. senior and senior, because my guess is you're trying to get a senior blade into a jr or intermediate shaft.

Yeah I had an Easton that was a tight fit into a Dolo shaft. When I got it jammed in, it was almost impossible to remove.

What I would do is LIGHTLY sand the paint off the tenon of the blade and LIGHTLY sand the inside of the shaft to remove and burrs or debris. You probably won't need any glue, just get the shaft headed up and push the blade in. If you can already get it in most of the way, taking off the paint and any burrs should get it the rest of the way.

I have two newer Warrior Dolo grip shafts, and use Easton S16 blades on them with no issues.

It's happened on a Dolo as well as an AK for me, even with a Warrior blade. I think it's just a QC issue with Warrior more than anything.

thanks for the responses. it's good to know i'm not crazy. I just assumed it was a bad batch of sticks and some bad luck. i'll try to lightly sand as suggested. thanks again.

I have the exact opposite problem. Dolo blade too loose inside my pro-stock Dolo shaft. Like Mack said, probably a QC issue.

I know I had no problem with my Innovative 1100 standard shaft and the Easton Si-Core blade, However, Warrior could have more QC problems than Innovative did. (I miss that company) :(

Heat up the shaft, then melt the glue, and get it in as far as you can. When it stops hit the shaft and the tenon with some heat. Hold the heal and the hosel, and hammer (Not with a hammer, but slam it into the ground holding just the blade) it down by hitting the butt end of the shaft straight down. It won't damage either piece, but it will fix the tightness issue.

I know a guy that puts standard blades into tapered shafts and they don't break, a tapered blade into a tapered shaft will not do any damage, it just needs some lovin' to put it on.

I had the same thing, got a new Vapor XXXX tapered blade and it just would not go into a new Dolomite shaft. I'm not going to bother trying to crack it by forcing it in though, although if I REALLY wanted it to fit, I'd probably try to sand them both down a bit.

In the reverse end maybe? No way he is getting a standard blade into the tapered end of a shaft. Kids, dont try that at home....or at all for that matter.

i managed to get the blade out of the almost inserted easton blade + warrior shaft. looking at the blade (and scraped paint from the blade), i can see that the shaft needs some sanding. i'm a bit upset because in my disgust, i went out and bought a one95 shaft (with traditional blade) and an easton se16 shaft (with tapered blade), and those slid in with very little effort.

it just looks like i'll have to keep working on the dolo shaft to get the debris out of there.
