whats are the best curves for toe drags?

Recommended Posts

I might be wrong, but I always thought round was better.

A round edge will "transition" better as you flip the blade around.

A square edge will be the opposite.

Imagine trying to roll a round wheel and a square wheel.

***I might be wrong on this, but I think I'm right.

no question about that.. i can do toe drags with an iginla prostock curve with prefection but i broke that stick. looking for another curve to make toe drags better.

Use the measurements of your Iginla PS and put them into the Pattern DB. See if anything remotely close comes up.

I prefer a more rounded toe, but I don't find it makes a huge difference to me.

I like the Sakic, Thornton, Lindros, Montreal Euro if you could find it again. For me, it's more the depth and location of the curve than the toe.

I find heel curves to be a stinkin hoe for toe drags the more the curve is in the middle or by the toe works best I can find many mid curves but I'm curious how good a toe curve would be for stickhandling purposes. I'm thinking about the backstorm curve from bauer I want to place some orders at bauer Id for a couple 195s

Iginla Prostock looks like a heel curve so its hard to suggest something because i would go with more of a toe curve or atleast a mid. For retail i would say just try a sakic because they are easy to find. Either or just make sure you stick to a rounded tip IMO.

I can toe drag well with rounded blades, like my retail Fedorov and my older retail Tkachuk. Since you did well with the Iginla, I would try the Fedorov. I broke my Iginla Si-Core a few years back, switched to a Fedorov and have only used Fedorov retails the past few years since.

Square at the top, round at the bottom. Toe drags dream.

What's the advantage of a square top?

That one in particular nothing because the squaring starts too late, but the idea of a rounded bottom and square top is you get the Toe-Drag and better stopping of the puck on the boards.

Also, some people like to turn the toe all the way over and pull it back. So when there is just toe on the ice, the square top gives you more blade to work with.
