Black S17's. Healtey also wears them.

Actually Heatley is wearing s15 with LS2

Wrong.

Yes, I realize it's not current, and that he does in fact wear S15's with LS2's, but the point remains that it is a black S17 skate, and not an S19.

^ This is correct. Saw him in Atlanta this weekend with S15's. Looks like he's been switching between S15 and the Black S17.

It's the same skate, different outer material. *facepalm*

Still if it was 100 that's insane for a backhand

Not when you're built like a tank, which the majority of NHL players are.

Thats the whole point, we're marveling on how much of a tank Vinny is. I couldn't do that with an 85 flex, doubt I could even do it with a 75 flex for the simple reason I have an atrocious backhand.

I guess this sort of qualifies as a gear sighting, but I saw an Edge 2.0 jersey at the Pens' team store. It was a Staal and the entire jersey was AirKnit, also for sale it was just on the rack. The Pens have that solid yellow on the sleeve and it was also AirKnit. Was pretty cool to see in person and compared it to an authentic jersey that was 1.0.

I wonder how that got up there. I managed to acquire home and away edge 2.0 lightning jerseys, no one knows the difference but me at the games, but they are still neat to have. The only edge material on them is from the armpit down in a strip that joins the front and back panels. They are 54's and fit like a regular airknit pro stock jersey. I also have an edge 1.0 that came from the team and it is certainly a different fit altogether. Quite honestly I prefer wearing the 1.0 to games as it breathes better and is much cooler to wear on those hot florida walks from the parking lot.

The Pens Station store is always good for some pro issue or team clothes. I've picked up some RBK warmups that were team issue, but never worn. Don't always have a great selection in sizes but you can tell when you look at the UPC code on the tags and it says Dana (Pens EQM's first name).

+1, last year I picked up a pair of team issued warmup pants. a bit long, but thats what hems are for:-)

you'd think bauer would set one of their poster boys up with a new set of 4 rolls, eh? i also find it interesting that they don't make any attempt to cover up the swoosh on the stick.

He has 10 pair of new Bauer branded gloves in the equipment room. They've been there since August. The team had some NBH eft over and force him to wear those until they're gone. That's what teams with bad budgets do...

Why would a team with a bad budget buy 10 pair that they wont let him use?

And if they didnt have to pay for them....why not just let him use them?

well... given the marker job and the helmet sticker, i'd say that some effort was made. why bother if you're going to stop short?

i'd say it's not a sticker. old bauer logo... pre-swoosh.

I would assume that if they were free, the team wouldn't care. we don't know the details of his endorsement with nbh.

It's been explained before that even if a player has an endorsement, the team is still billed for the gear they are sent.

Because teams are trying to use what they have.

I asked our EQM before training camp if they were going to dump off all of the NBH stock, but he told me they were going to use as much of it as they could during rookie/prospects camps. Some of our players are in the Bauer stuff but there's still a couple of holdouts still using the Swoosh.

interesting. when you think about it, the player gets paid (extra) to wear the gear but the team still has to pay for the equipment. I guess if it was any different, nitpicking teams would try to sign endorsed players so their equipment cost goes down. I would also assume the team gets paid licensing fees/residuals by the endorser for said player to wear the team jersey in promos? or do they just consider that free brand exposure?

ahh the business side of pro sports.

as an aside, there was a news article regarding michael vick and nike. the claim was that he was endorsed by them and they simply said that they provide him free equipment buy don't have him on a monetary contract. I wonder why the NHL would be any different.
