2009-2010 Gear Sightings

Recommended Posts

Not exactly gear, but did anyone else notice that the NHL changed the game pucks for this season? I was watching the Flyers-Bruins highlights on YouTube and near the end where Timonen lobs the puck into the empty net, the camera zooms into the puck. It looks very plain with just the NHL shield, as opposed to the one with the silver ring and the horizontal stripe.

I did a google search and found this:

Apparently, they're made by Sher-Wood. Not feeling them. Too plain for me, look amateurish compared to the previous puck.

i don't remember where i saw/read it but apparantly the new pucks can keep the temperature better or something like that, giving it a more consistent performance

Inglasco has been a part of Sher-Wood for quite some time, I guess all the Inglasco stuff has been rebranded as Sher-Wood

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I was looking through the Flames vs. Kings pictures from last Monday and I saw a Nike Bauer branded One95 without the Nike swoosh blacked out. Picture 15

Sedin twins have been doing it too. I'm not sure but I think their gloves are still NBH-branded with no attempt of blocking out the swoosh.

I thought they weren't allowed to have the nike swoosh visible this season.

He's been using Vapor XXX ever since he came into the league. Not sure about now but as of the beginning of this season Matt Carle was in them still, as well.

I think the last generation were the best they've had. These aren't bad and I like them well enough, but the old ones looked nicer.

But hey, it helps move merchandise and gives collectors something new to fawn over. Can't really complain about that.

And I never really noticed those red bands around the copper sock stripes on the oilers before.

Does anyone apart from Datsyuk use an 8.0.8?

DATSYUK doesnt use an 808 he uses a Pro 10k custom, he switched out of the 808 at beginning of year Helm is the only Red Wing using the 808

I didn't even know if Datsyuk was using one or not this season, the post prior to my OP said he did. My suprise is about anyone in the NHL using the 808. Still, I dont think theres anyone using either this or last years 0-stick who doesn't have a rather hefty sponsorship deal? It wouldn't be a great shock after hearing about Datsyuk having to balance it with a long (12"?) wood plug last season.

Looks like an 8.0.8 to me, though for only two games as he switched back to a 10k when they played Phoenix

re: new Easton EQ5 skates in the 2010 catalog - Defenseman Mark Cundari of the Windsor Spitfires (St Louis property) has been wearing these since Sunday. Look pretty sharp, but I am not a fan of Easton skates.

Pretty sure him, Richards, and Loui are all still in the S17/S9. No floating logo. Which is weird, actually. Loui was in Mission, Richards and Neal were both in 4500's, and all three are now in Easton. Either Easton paid them some nice cash or it's a superstition thing amongst that line.

right, right Vancouver.

And here I thought I was seeing something new. The definition of the stream I was watching was okay, so I thought it was the floating logo.
