Explosion in Detroit (I-75?)

Just saw this on CNN...a tanker full of oil (or fuel) has exploded. Looks like a hell of a fire. Anyone in the area have details....is everyone okay. I know we have lots of Detroit/Michigan members.

so i guess the bridge it hit or is on collapsed and so far 2 dead, with the cars going southbound affected the most when the fire start (i.e. catching on fire etc)

Shit, that is a HEAVILY traveled section of road. 8:15pm is still early enough to have a good number of vehicles involved.

Hopefully 2 is where it stays. Time to make a couple calls to people I know that are in the area.

I grew up a mile from there and my family still lives there, I'm 2 hours north right now for school. That's going to cause HORRIBLE traffic back ups for a long time, good thing I'm staying up here for a while. Unfortunately that bridge had just been worked on.

Still waiting to hear what caused the accident, so far I've heard:

-A man ran out to get his kittens

-The driver was T-boned

-The tanker hit the bridge because it was to tall.

the second truck was carring produce. the first suppossedly jackknifed and was hit by the other truck. the part that sucks the most is that over pass had just finished major work on it less than 6 months ago. reports say that he whole overpass is totaled so they have to rebuilt it. well looks like some new jobs now. but 75 will be closed for some time.

the local abc station jumped in with coverage during wipeout, so i ended up missing the end of hte show. i was not happy about it. but thank goodness no one was hurt.

Yea, I've also hear that it is going to need to be completely replaced, along with major portions of the freeway.
