fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted August 3, 2009 This was THE movie that made me want to play. Before that I never even knew hockey existed! Here was a sport where you got to go fast, hit people whenever you wanted to and fight! Obviously playing for 13 years has enlightened me past my misconceptions gained as an 8 year old, but still, It was one of the 1st ever DVD's I bought and cherished. It's my second favourite hockey movie all time, behind Miracle.same for me.. .this was the first hockey movie I watched.Obviously thought there were hockey chicks like Cynthia Gibbs all over the place... not in my hometown though :(

Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2009 Those are awesome Fletch. They would sell like hotcakes over here. They should do a T shirt with the line "Nothing like Tea with Miss McGill" and have a pic of her next to the text.

biff44 0 Report post Posted August 7, 2009 The movie is f-ing awesome.....assuming you dont take it seriously. From what I have seen and heard about major juniors, the movie is not that far off the mark. What part would you not take seriously?
chippa13 1844 Report post Posted August 7, 2009 Any hockey scene or how about the fact that a 17 year old was tearing up the league he was in and had to go to an open tryout for a junior team. I won't bother with the fact that they were playing major junior games during school hours.
eric42434224 1 Report post Posted August 7, 2009 It is a movie. That is all the explanation anyone needs to explain any and all inaccuracies. If you want to see accuracy, go see a documentary. Movies take liberties to increase entertainment value of the experience, and to make it more accessible to the layman. The most obvious examples are the "CSI" type shows. They are so far removed from the reality of being a crime scene investigator it is literally laughable. Youngblood is a very entertaining movie, and that it is based on hockey makes it more so. If you watch Youngblood for realism, you will be very very disappointed. Enjoy it for what it is. It can be funny as hell to watch. I am going to ask for a hockey DVD collection for my 40th b-day in Oct. Slapshot, Youngblood, Miracle, Rocket & Mystery Alaska. :)

I won't bother with the fact that they were playing major junior games during school hours.I see you have not been following David Perron. Given up on in Jr A, almost quits, invited to a major junior training camp, tears up the ice, spends a year showing what he has in the Q, goes to NHL training camp....and thenhttp://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=95960Like I said, what part do you think is not realistic?
